Monday Morning Mirth
When the other work laid down its weary head,
the housework demanded equal time.
First up on the Rooster: LAUNDRY.
Tell me what this is and why it’s FUNNY

A sweater for you and your “mini-me” of course! Actually – 2 great sweaters, showing the dramatic effect of accidental felting.
I’d guess that the blue sweater used to be the same size as the purple sweater. Did someone love the blue sweater and wanted one in their size, and now they can have it?
They are the same style sweater – 1 was felted accidentally? I hope
You always wanted a mother daughter semi matching outfits
The blue sweater accidentally ended up in the wash and shrunk? Used to be the same size as the purple? Both still very cute!

They used to be the same size.
Little blue looks like an excellent candidate for Dulann. It’s a bizzard proof sweater for a small person.
Yup. Both used to be the same thing and someone accidentally gave it a warm bath in the washer and voila. Felted sweater! Would it fit supergirl? lol
did you accidentally/on purpose felt the blue one?
Oh dear, you felted a sweater by accident. Well, you could make it into a handbag!
Hmmm, looks to me like you have the makings for a lovely blue felted tote bag or purse.
OK, felting incident. I’m guessing that it wasn’t on purpose. Anyone you know have a small dog that needs a sweater this winter?
BTW, I admire your attitude throughout the felting incident. If that were me, I would cry, scream, eat ice cream and then cry somemore.
OMG, you were attacked by the felting pixies! So sad!
I’m guessing you _meant_ to felt the purple one. It’s funny because….um, it probably WASN’T that funny at first :) But it could happen to anyone. And probably has.
Woopsies, looks like the blue sweater got put ino the wrong laundry pile. No warm baths for animals fibers, or else they turn to felt. Know any small dogs that need some extra warmth?
First up on the Rooster was laundry. The Rooster isn’t used to doing laundry, so he forgot to check the water temperature setting. Or maybe he did it “accidentally-on-purpose”, so he could claim the blue sweater for himself.
So sorry the blue one got felted. I can still remember when my favorite sweater (hand-knit by my sister) got felted as a kid. Sadly after that she only knit for me in acrylic—just couldn’t trust the rest of the family to launder her handiwork properly.
oopsie – well, now you know how much that yarn will felt, for whenever you want to do it on purpose
Ditto all above – the little one got felted. Still, I think it would make a mighty cute sweater for somebody’s baby doll.
Oh me oh dear, that blue sweater looks a little pixie-ish. I bet the purple sweater just hangs around with Little Blue because it makes her feel taller! Accidental feling is also my diagnosis. Or on purpose…Did they both used to be the same style, as others have mentioned? Looks like Little Blue had that ruffled edging.
And I definitely second the Dulaan idea! It even has a wee turtleneck for added blizzard-proof-ness.
The purple sweater is the one for you to wear, and the small grey sweater will be turned into a bag to carry around all your knitting stuff. Stitch together the neck; the sleeves, add a bit of extraneous i-cord flowers, slap a handle on it and voila – “trendy” knitting bag!
(It’s amazing how the ruffles don’t look so ruffly after felting. A sad thing)
Is the wee felty knit from that English Wool that you just dyed?
One was washed in COLD water and the other HOT water!!
The purple one is yours, the light blue was put into the washer and agitated to feltdom by your evil elf sister who wanted it in her size?
I think the blue one is the same sweater as the purple, the blue one got felted (on accident?)!
Ummmmmmm, a new pattern of yours wherein different sizes are achieved by felting instead of different numbers of stitches? *g* Or perhaps you wanted a gift for a child at the last minute and so desparately felted one of your sweaters? What a very kind gesture! And you totally meant to do it, right? Right?! ;)
Well, nothing original here. I’m almost positive that you felted the blue one on purpose – new messenger bag probably! teehee…
Well, obviously, as everyone else has pointed out, the two are the same sweater, one felted and one not. Is this your way of telling us you are pregnant? ;-)
Well the “what it is” part definitely looks like two sweaters, same pattern, one felted (by accident or on purpose, not sure).
But as for why it’s funny…I DON’T KNOW!
Unless you meant to felt both of them, but only one actually succumbed?
What incident? Two freshly laundered sweaters. Now you have to figure how to downsize the purple one to fit as perfectly as the blue.
A funny felting accident. Same pattern: before you learned how to wash handknits and after…?
Hmmmm…
same pattern – one fulled, one not.
Why funny? they weren’t really the same size were they?
As everyone else has already stated, they are the same sweater, one felted, one not. As to the little one: is this your way of telling us you are pregnant? ;-)
well, yes – perhaps they both used to be the same size?
“Still life: When my Husband does the Laundry”
It’s your way of telling us you have a new DOG! One sweater for you and one for the new pup… she’s a golden retriever puppy and you are worried about her getting cold this winter while playing in the Chicago snow!
Mr. Washie gets revenge for being ignored. Not only did he shrink one of these sweaters, he sucked all the color out of it and hit it somewhere, waiting for an unsuspecting load of whites to dump it on.

Looks like you started tossing laundry into the machine and tossed in a lovely wool sweater. Got an American Girl look alike doll or a Barbie? Might be a good investment considering how much you probably spent on the yarn.
Condolences….I made the same little faux pax when I got to tossing and shrunk WC’s American Eagle sweater. OOOPS!
Before and after pics for the Famous Felted Body Cosy.
i can only guess it’s funny because you did it on purpose, because if not it would be *tears*!! does look like the same pattern though… could it be the same yarn??
It’s the horrid wool-sweater-laundry-tragedy-allegory about Kirstie Alley, before and after Jenny Craig.
No idea why its funny, its sooo not, are you crying? I hate felting accidents, usually its someone elses fault though.
Oh no! Another tragic occurence of felticide! The blue sweater was obviously feeling neglected (perhaps it had colorway perception issues?) and in a desperate plea for attention tossed itself into the washer!
OK, they’re supposed to be roughly the same size and the small one got washed “for” you by a well meaning person staying/living with you? And this is the first you’re seeing of it?
Oh, Bonne Marie. My first thought is that it isn’t funny at all, as the blue sweater is obviously the same as the purple, only it met it’s demise in the boiling cauldron of death, as Wendy would say. But perhaps there’s someone out there with the dimensions of the smaller sweater, as it looks adorable felted.
What’s funny is that the Hourglass sweater is now a Half-hourglass sweater. Time flies when you do laundry.
Did it go thru the drier too?
