Getting in the holiday spirit s.l.o.w.l.y. over here at Chez Chic…
And that means some frenzied type of scarf knitting (waves to all the other folks out there making the mad dash)!
Lucky for me, I found some nice THICK yarn and am happily knitting away on Chic Knits Skinny Cowl.
The yarn is by Bouton d’Or and called ORLOV. Really incredible looking – at first I thought iit was one of those *braided* strand-type yarns that have been popping up lately. But as I started using it, it turned out to be what I think is called cabled-construction type. (I found this out when I repeatedly stuck my needle through the strand — opening up the plies — knitting too fast!)
And it’s BIG!
(If I was cool, I would’ve stuck a pencil in this pic for scale but nay, uncool… ;p)
I’m really loving the scarf that’s quickly growing longer and longer. It’s really cushy, but light, and the colors, which because it’s a purple blue, can’t really be reproduced digitally, is what, in the day, my Color Me Whatever rep told me were truly ME. Heh.
Pretty in Royal Blue, Lilac & Yellow-Green…
So, Old Man Winter: bring it…I’ve got Orlov to keep me warm…
