Color: Spring Tickle
Gauge: 4.5 sts / 6rows over 1″

Nothing like some beautiful color! to liven up the place! Time for a real FO Portrait of my traveling project.

It is raining like made right now — the skies are as dark as night at 10 am in the morning. I shot this newbie about an hour ago when we were just in a cloud instead of a downpour.

Straight from the floor of TNNA, with some fancying up via pressing and a little more finishing, this vest version in 100% wool is quite exciting.

The Spring Tickle color has all the tones of a glorious grassy hillside in the sun. (I’m fantasizing Tuscany, but I did see the same rolling grass driving on Interstate 70 coming home). There are subtle variations of natural greens highlighted by golden strokes and a mere subtle touch of aqua; absolutely yummy.

And, the entire project was one of my more lightening speed efforts: from start to finish (with LOTS of interruptions in between), it took about 10 days of knitting, steady on and off.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Great Day O’the Morning!

Columbus! Such a fine town, even if you are mainly looking at it through a hotel window (and from a convention floor). After setting up the booth on Friday, I was able to sneak away for some North Market pleasure: Vietnamese food and the famous Jeni’s Ice Cream (Queen City Cayennne, Grapefruit Hyacinth, and Lavendar Berry).

Being at the TNNA summer show is an indoor excursion extraordinaire; once it powers on, as an exhibitor, you are in place, like a rock on a river bed, waiting for the wash of retailers to flow down the stream.

Booth 163 is on the southeast side of the hall in a row that is Boutique heaven. I have wonderful neighbors: White Lies Designs, Bijou Basin Ranch, Buffalo Ranch, Namaste, Noni, CookieA, Unicorn Books. There are maybe 1000 exhibitors and it is so huge that most buyer’s walking the show have a gameplan to divide and conquer it in more easily manageable chunks. I’m not sure I could be a retail warrior in this arena — it is so big that I’d reach saturation at some point and just fall over. Many people work in pairs (or more) and survey and plot to narrow it down to their personal beelines.

It is poetry in motion…

And about that WIP? s.t.i.l.l.

but it’s getting more gorgeous by the minute…

The rush continues, Day 2.

The ShowDown Continues: its just three days before I leave for Columbus and like all good and major deadlines, it seems the more I do, the less is getting done! WHEE!

The weekend was great — did a big photoshoot with lots of new looks for fall — above’s an updated pic of the MCSVest with a little white shirt underneath. This version is made from cotton/microfiber (by ggh *Java* — 85% cotton and 15% acrylic) and it makes a very comfortable top for spring/summer/fall erm, winter. The addition of the microfiber makes the fabric behave a little better than 100% cotton, less stretch, etc. Fiber-y behavior, which of course, resembles two of my other All Time Favorite Yarns — Rowan All Seasons Cotton & Lion Cotton Ease! I’ve got my stash, don’t you know ;p

From the 1 step forward, 2 steps back files: yesterday was just about a washout in the getting things done department. Moe Larry CHEESE!

Total hard drive meltdown~!

Because my main hard drive was getting full (eewww) I’ve been using a firewire backup drive. Just lately, I transferred a ton of files to this drive and have been using it as a scratch disk for Photoshop. Yesterday, I did a lot of file retouching and BAM! I think I melted it. It started making some really awful clacking noises and wouldn’t mount on the desktop.

First, of course, I panicked! That Sound. It’s really an unhappy sound.

Then I remembered I’d been backing up all the super duper important stuff online (with something called Mozy) and maybe, just maybe, I’d remembered to include this second drive in there somewhere. Well, I did. Sort of. All of the nitty gritty was a-ok; but a lot of stuff was vaporized because I just moved those newer files to the disk. Well. As they say when you’re starting to clean a closet, if you haven’t worn something in so long you can’t remember, you don’t need it anyway…

Time will tell!

And it’s telling me to get a grip! :)

Here’s my Mondo Cable Shell / Vest so far:

mcsv-house-p1000417

You can see it’s being propped up by HOUSE. As is should be, since the kindly Dr. is going to get me through the next few hours of rampant knitting! The MCSV should probably be about two inches longer, but given the Screamin’ Meemie Joy Ride I’ve been on for the last few hours, it’s not. ;p
