I love the color and the choosing of a pattern and yarn. The texture, the rhythm, the challenge of a pattern or technique. Knitting is solitary, it is social. It is relaxing, it is exciting. It is tradition, it is new creation. It is complex, it is just two sticks and a string. It is mostly my sanity and sometimes my frustration. It is my constant companion.
I LOVE knitting because it brings circles of friends of together and sometimes those circles intertwine creating new friendships, just like the love of a beautiful yarn creates a friendship with my needles, and intertwines stitches to create a beautiful garment.
I love knitting because it relaxes me. I am a teacher and I have three kids. You can imagine how wonderful it feels to sit down with a glass of wine, my two best friends, and a lovely knitting project. It feels like a treat just for me and I love to wear what I’ve made. It’s my zen.
Ever since I taught myself to knit when so was in Jr. High, I’ve loved knitting because the process of knitting is both calming (the focus and repetition of making stitches) and exhilarating (watching something grow and take shape from the needles and yarn).
Being 6’2″ tall, I also love making my own knitted pieces that aren’t like the things you can buy at the Mall in appearance *or* size!
I LOVE knitting because it brings me peace. I can have the absolutely worst or frustrating day and I can pick up my needles and find peace and comfort. The ability to create something with my hands is rewarding.
I love knitting because I can fully customize my sweaters and accessories to fit my taste!
i love knitting because it gives me the peace of mind that I crave in the midst of all the crazy things life brings. I love knitting because it adds gorgeous color to my day even on a cloudy and wintery day like this. I love kniting because it warms my body and soul when i most crave it.
Knitting centers me … keeps me calm on a crazy day, helps me deal with strees. It is better than yoga … in my opinion.
Knitting is creative, fun, relaxing, challenging. What’s not to love?
Knitting soothes the nerves. It’s something I can focus on when worlds collide.
Knitting is great for your nerves especially when you are waiting for someone and patience is low, pickup your knitting and it occupies your mind.
I love knitting because it keeps my brain in tip top shape. I have to follow the pattern, problem solve and be creative!
I love knitting because I can lose myself in the stitches and patterns of the garment. I love the fact that knitting is the only craft that I will not rip to pieces and yell “I quit” when I hit a snag. I just put my work down until I’ve cooled off and calmly go back to my project, take out every stitch back to where the mistake began. It’s not always easy to learn a new stitch, get the right gauge or just complete a project but when I do, it’s a beautiful thing!
Love to knit in my favorite chair by the window on a sunny day, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Doesn’t get much better than that!
I love knitting because of the beauty created, the tactile feel of yarn and needles, the grounding that is hand creating and the endless permutations created with knits and purls. It is my centering and calm.
Knitting tames the beast in me. It’s my yoga and helps me relax so I can deal with people around me.
I love knitting because it keeps me sane. And it’s beautiful. Like that yarn. And that sweater.
I love knitting because I feel my heart slow down the minute I pick up my needles.
I love knitting, to see something I’m creating grow from my hands and needles. I enjoy meeting with friends to knit. I think it helps keep my brain active.
I love to knit to relax and also to be challenged. I love to feel beautiful yarn in my hands and imagine how the colors will work together. Right now, my greatest delight is in knitting for my granddaughter – I just can’t make enough sweaters, hats, shrugs and dresses for her!!
Knitting makes it possible for me to wait patiently; at the doctor’s office, school pickup and airports. Otherwise I might go stark raving MAD!
Knitting is a form of mental as well as physical relaxation for me. It also keeps me from reaching into the refrigerator or cabinet too often for snacks ;)
I love knitting for many reasons. 1. It’s my therapy, my zen space. It helps me relax. 2. I get to use artistic and creative skills that have been passed down generations (my grandma taught me to knit) and also add new and more modern twists to these skills. 3. I get to make wonderful items that I, my family and customers of my KnitzyBlonde shop will love for many years. What a great feeling that is! :)
I love knitting cause …. “it keeps me from unraveling”!
Knitting completes my day. I don’t plan to ever stop knitting.
I love knitting because it’s always in my heart.
I love knitting, because it is meditation enacted – from mind to hands to heart.
I LOVE knitting because it brings me closer to people I love. My grandma taught me to knit when I was 8. She used to knit mittens and sweaters for me. As I got older, I began knitting for myself. Then I left it behind during my 20’s. I found knitting again in my 40’s and haven’t stopped. Now I get to knit for my granddaughter, as well as my husband and two daughters and their husbands. How lucky I am!!
I love knitting because it helps me relax after a tough day at work, because it has opened me up to an amazing new world of friends I might never have met before, and because I am able to make things that make me and my loved ones happy and warm!
I love knitting because when I am knitting all is right with the world.
I LOVE to knit as it keeps my heart, hands and mind captured. I am from a family of knitters and when I knit I am channelling my family. It amazes me how you can change your mood.
I just love to knit as it keeps my heart, hands and mind captured. I am from a family of knitters and when I knit I am channelling my family. It amazes me how you can change your mood.
i love to knit because it takes my mind off of the troubles in the world and thinking about my children and how they are and in the end i’m relaxed and have created something useful and pretty.
I love knitting with all my heart.
It reminds me of my Grandmother, who taught me to knit when I was eight years old.
It keeps me company during long days when my family is away.
Knitting has eased me through stressful times.
And last and most important, knitting has lead me to meet the nicest people and dearest friends.
I love how knitting stats conversations. I’m a guy who has been knitting or crocheting in public for about 40 years, and have met so many nice folks. I also love the look I sometimes see in a person’s eyes when I compliment something they are wearing – you can tell right away thatthey made it!
Why do I love knitting? Let me count the ways. First is for the things I make. Second is how my hands do quake. Third is for the well-fitting sweater. Fourth is all about getting better and better. Fifth is well… there’s just so much.. Six through infinity.. snuggle the yarn and touch…
I love knitting because it calms me and centers me. I love the process of creating something. I love it!
I love knitting because the rhythm is relaxing…and because doing it makes me think of and feel close to all the other knitters amongst my family and friends, even though we’re far apart.
I LOVE knitting, because it brings me peace, lets me be productive while relaxing, and keeps me constantly learning!
I LOVE knitting because it’s cheaper than a shrink and way more fun! And i can make neat stuff, too, to gift away or keep.
“Why I LOVE Knitting” — it does NOT relax me! but it’s so much fun !!! i love it too because if i ever have to wait somewhere, i can do so “productively” — knit. knit. knit =)
ps. that yarn is so pretty!
I love knitting because i find it relaxing, productive and is an excellent avenue to meet new people.
How do I love knitting let me count the ways.
1. The feel of good wool between my fingers.
2. Making garments and other items for the ones I love.
3. Meeting with friends on Saturdays for knitting and lots of laughter.
4. Yarn crawls with my girls.
5. Buying new patterns.
6 Learning new skills.
7. The community of knitters I have become apart of in real life and online.
Knitting has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s allowed me to travel, earn a living, helped me cope during tough times, and give gifts that are still cherished to this day.
I love knitting because it connects me to generations past and allows me to pass this lovely and important skill on as a means of connecting to future generations.
I love it because it connects me with my roots (grandma and mom were awesome knitters) and my friends in the knitting circle of fun.
I love knitting because it has become a balm to my soul. I’ve found such solice and peace. I love the friends I’ve made, and the places I’ve traveled…all for the love of knitting. <3
The relaxation of knitting (even with frogging) is overshadowed by the smiles that come with hand knit gifts.
I LOVE to be able to create something functional, yet beautiful. I LOVE the feel of beautiful wool running through my hands. I LOVE the feel of wool on my hands, head, socks, body, heart, knowing those beautiful sheep knew a good thing when they saw it!! I LOVE the incredible colours of wool that all those talented dyers make for us! I LOVE bringing it all together, and creating a garment or accessory that brings joy for seasons and years to come.
I love knitting because I’m carrying on a tradition from so many people before me and I can make knitted items in beautiful and different colors than what I can find in stores.
I LOVE knitting because it is relaxing, fulfilling and the best thing to do while listening to audiobooks. Give me knitting or give me DEATH!
