I love knitting because it relaxes me! Also I love making items for family members, especially the grandchildren.
Knitting is like meditation, it helps me concentrate (if I do not concentrate doing cables, I just have to unknit and start again). It also helps learning patience (I do not count how many times I had to unknit and start again). Knitting brings self esteem – the best reward is when your teenager is wearing the beanie you knitted and his friend wants a beanie too!
I love knitting because it brings me moments of soothing calm, and it lets me create beautiful useful things from sticks and string.
Knitting simply keeps me sane.
My mom taught me to knit at a young age. I feel so fortunate that I wanted to learn then, instead of resist. My mom has been gone for almost 24 years, and was an excellent knitter. I love to knit because it reminds me of her and it is relaxing, creative, good for my brain, and a bond that I have with my friends! The options of patterns and yarns is endless and I am truly addicted!!
I love knitting because it’s so relaxing. But even more, I love it because it gives me such a feeling of connection to the past. My grandmother who supported her 6 children with her needle skills. She taught me to knit when I was 11 or 12. It didn’t “stick” but she gave me the basic skills so it was easier to start again in college. And I remember the lovingly made mittens she have me as well as the crib quilt she made for me as a baby – a pink & white girl with watering can pattern. All of my siblings used it. I remember how I loved the circle quilt that she had made for my parents. I’ve noticed that my great nieces & nephews instinctively get” the love in a hand knit item. And my grands LOVE anything I knit for them especially socks.
I love knitting because it calms me down from my constant anxiety. It is also very porta le, so I can take it everywhere with me to keep my mind occupy from constantly thinking why the wait is so long.
Knitting allows me to dream about what my new baby will look like while I create it’s first clothes!
knitting is how I unwind…
I LOVE knitting because it’s creative and soothing. It’s a way to be challenged and to keep learning new things. And fun!
I love knitting because it takes my mind off other issues! Not to mention you have something nice you can gift or hoarde for yourself!
I love knitting because it’s something I can do that actually has a finished product….unlike surfing the web. And I can also knit anywhere–like on a plane, where I can’t surf the web (unless I want to pay a bunch of money).
I love knitting because for a type A person, it’s the closest to meditation I can get.
knitting gives me a purpose, a product, and a challenge to gift myself and others when my physical disabilities take most other things away
I love knitting because it allows me to create beautiful things while I relax in front of the TV. And, as an added bonus it keeps my hands busy so I can’t snack.
Knitting is my release, my sanity and my creative outlet. It’s the one thing that is truly just for me when I want it to be and a unique gift for someone special.
Knitting is something I enjoy at any time of the day, in any season, and given that I live in a warm climate, that says a lot:)) Its my hobby and my stress buster.
I love the meditative aspect of knitting, and also that it is a way to express my creativity. I have always been a crafter, but knitting has become my obsession!
I love to knitting because there are an endless number of new things to learn. And I love using my hands to make things for my loved ones and myself.
I love knitting not just because it’s a fine art that gets passed down by each generation, but also because it centers me. I relax, distress, meditate, and sometimes just zone out through knitting. And amidst all that, I’m making beautiful things that either I or my family and friends will use. How neat is that?
I LOVE knitting because it allows me a creative outlet—a tactile, mentally and physically engaging experience of varying degrees of involvement, and I end up with a beautiful useful thing that when I use it or see someone else using it, brings back happy memories along with the immediate pleasure of wearing it or seeing it being used.
Knitting helps me wrap up those I love with things I’ve made with love. <3
It’s meditative and calming. It keeps my hands busy It makes me feel good creating things, and I love everything about yarn- the colors, the feel and even the smell!
I love knitting because of the peace and beauty of the process and the result, and because it’s a way to hand someone a hug they can carry with them.
I love knitting because it gives me an excuse to sit down and relax….yet still feel productive.
I love knitting because it keeps me from killing people.
I love knitting for the peacefulness and contentment I feel while working on a project, even when it is challenging.
Knitting is my creative outlet. I love being inspired by color, dreaming about my next project and learning new techniques. Plus it keeps me sane and warm!!
I LOVE knitting. It takes me to a better place and makes me forget my health issues. But more than this it allows me to be creative and to leave a legacy to my children and grand-children–a legacy I continue from my great-grandmother who knit socks for her whole family from the age of 6. I have a pair of her needles that were made by her husband out of wood from a tree in their yard, what a wonderful loving thing!
I love knitting because it makes me patient and creative, it gives me a concrete way to express affection for loved ones, it connects me to other wonderful people (knitters), and it I get to express myself. Not to mention the tactile pleasures of lovely fibers flowing through my fingers, becoming a beautiful and useful fabric. I also get to practice problem-solving, explore geometry and spatial relationships, and use my math skills in a compelling way.
Knitting makes me really happy!
I love knitting because my grandmother taught me how to knit when I was six years old. She is now passed away and I am the only one left in my family who knows how to knit. To me it is a lost art. I hope that I am able to teach my granddaughter how to knit in about 10 years, God willing.
I love knitting. It keeps me calm in moments of stress and I love making beautiful items to give away to my family and friends. Thanks for the chance. I haven’t tried Madeline Tosh before.
I love knitting for two major reasons; the first is that it is what helped me to quit smoking, and gave my hands something constructive to do. The second is it takes me to my happy place, after an 8 hour work day, two hour total commute, the hectic evening routine of making dinner, cleaning, picking up my teenagers from after school athletics, and laundry. Not necessarily in that order.
I learned to knit when I was seven years old, and I have knit almost everyday of my life since then—it’s like breathing for me. (I will be 52 in March, so I have knit for allot of years.) I love the tactile aspect of it most.
I love knitting because it is the string that holds my life together. I learned to knit at a young age, 4 years old and was self taught until just a few years ago. I knit through everything: long car rides, waiting for appointments, studying through school, figuring out problems, three pregnancies which required 12 months total of bedrest. Only in the past ten years has it become social for me, a reason to get out and connect with interesting women. I expect my life will be measured by what I was knitting during that time.
Why do I love knitting? Because knitting relaxes me. If I didn’t have knitting, I would yell a lot more. ;)
I love knitting, because it helps me to relax after a busy day at work. I love seeing how a strand of yarn becomes a beautiful garment or accessory, made with my own to hands.
I think knitting really releases those feel good endorphins:)
I absolutely love knitting. It calms me, sparks my creative mind, whiles away endless wasted time sitting in dr. offices, cars, planes, etc. And, mostly, I end up with a beautiful garment that fits me or a loved one.
I love knitting because I get really excited when I have a new project on the go and can’t wait to get started on it!
Knitting is my therapy. In good time and bad, the needles, the yarn, and the friends made while practicing this art help to make my life better.
Being hearing impaired, knitting helps me sit in small group conversations with less frustration, enabling me to be part of the group dynamic.
Knitting is meditation for me. After a long day at work, nothing soothes like knitting.
I knit and crochet, but its the click, click, click of the needles that makes me love knitting over crocheting. That sound to me is just so relaxing!
I am obsessed with knitting! It is a passion. I knit EVERYWHERE and always have a project with me wherever I go. I knit in the car while my husband drives, I knit on the bus on my way home from work, I knit on my lunch break at work. I knit in the waiting room at the doctor and the dentist. I knit at the mall while my daughter shops. At the movies while waiting for the movie to start. I love knitting!
Knitting is my friend. It helps keep my mind active in many ways. Figuring out new patterns, planning projects, thinking about the person who will receive the item. And I have had many pleasant conversations while knitting in public. People seem inclined to comment; usually about an older relative “doing that”.
Knitting keeps me from fidgeting and lets me create beautiful things to share. It also keeps jy perennially cold feet from falling off.
I love knitting because I can use it exactly how I need it- I can do some nice and simple stockinette when I just need to keep my hands busy, and some complicated lace or cables when I want a challenge.
I’m also becoming extra appreciative of all the wool clothing that I have now that cold weather is here!
I love knitting…Let me count the ways.
I love knitting because it soothes my inner creative soul.
I love knitting because the rthymic click of my needles is like a song.
I love knitting because I can knit functional yet creative (and sometimes amusing) garments/pieces.
I love knitting because I connect with so many before us who knitted tirelessly to make necessary garments for their loved ones.
I <3 knitting
I love knitting because of the meditative quality – I can sit down, work with my hands, free my mind, and just relax.
