I ♥♥Love KNitting Because I love to see all the pretty things that emerge from a skein of yarn…
It also keeps me Busy and off the Streets :)
I keep trying to post this but it keeps saying that I already said that??? Humm???
I love both the creative process and the end result. It keeps my fingers busy while my mind is engaged in other things (mindless knitting) and gives me something to focus on at other times when I’d like to fully engaged – mind and body- in the creative process.
Knitting is a way of life for me. I knit every day and find that it is relaxing and gives me peace of mind — and I have something beautiful to gift or to keep when I am finished. Many friendships have been made through a mutual love of fiber; I find there is definitely something very special about fiber folk!
I love knitting because it helps me keep sane through the hard times. My mom recently had a stroke and my knitting was like therapy during those hard days. And – BONUS – you have something beautiful at the end to wear or give away!
I have always loved knitting – my Mom was from England – and she knitted every day – she taught me when I was 4 – and now I knit every day too . . . I knit a lot of Baby wear – –
I love knitting because it connects me with all the people that knit in the present and the past. And a bonus is all the great knits I have and give as gifts.
I love knitting because it’s my meditation, I love to feel fabric grow between my needles, and I love giving things to others!
Knitting is my relaxation therapy! I love creating blanket designs to give to new parents, to donate or decorate my family’s homes. I also thoroughly enjoy making sweaters for grandchildren, my children, friends & myself. I made my first big red sweater when I was 8 and have been knitting ever since. Can’t wait to pass the zen-like tradition on to my 3 year old granddaughter!
Wow….what a great and generous idea….and a tough question. I think one of the main reasons I love knitting is because of the connection it gives me to all those who have loved and nurtured the craft throughout it’s history….not the least of whom is my dear Nana who passed her love of knitting on to me.
Knitting gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day. I also like the measurable progress. So many things in my life don’t have clear beginnings and endings. Knitting does!
I like knitting because it can be mindless stockinet or mind boggling lace patterns. It can be firm and crunchy linen, or soft and pliable baby alpaca. I can make something warm, stylish and fitted to me, or for friends and family. I’ll never tire of the question “Oh! You made that?”
Knitting is my happy place… it keeps me sane. I love that it feeds both my creative and nerdy math sides :)
Knitting is my time for relaxation. Time just for me.
I love knitting because I love to make things.
Knitting is bipolar: an anesthetic or a charge, depending on what I need on the day.
I love knitting cause I can make anything, any color, any size, shape or texture. With knitting, the world is my oyster.
I love knitting because it is relaxing and satisfying. It is my PEACE time at night when all is quiet in the house. :-) I also knit at doctor’s offices, fishing trips, airplanes, beach, etc……
I love the ZEN of knitting. The creative process of turning a piece of string into something beautiful. I love the feeling of using my hand to create wonderful things.
What a gorgeous red in those skeins! I love knitting because it’s like an active meditation for me…very calming but I don’t have to try to keep thoughts from my mind. It seems to relax a certain part of my brain. And when I’m done, I have a finished object to enjoy!
Its good therapy!
I love knitting because it calms my racing mind more than any other hobby I have ever engaged in. I love contemplating the possibilities of what a pile of string can become in my hands. I love bringing out a true personality by shaping a toy’s face and expression, and nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone I love being kept warm by something I made out of a pile of string.
Knitting…how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: I love thee to the height of my creative being, opening me to new ideas, techniques, and giving me the best of all reasons to fondle yarn and fiber. I love thee to the depth of my happy fingers, learning to manipulate the most innocent substance into creations that surpass even my expectations. And I love thee to breadth of my heart ~ wrapping the ones I love in handmade creations that give warmth and comfort in ways that words cannot convey. Knitting. It’s a good thing.
Why I love knitting? Let me count the ways. It keeps my hands busy while I do other things, watch TV, listen to the radio, even read. It relaxes me, and relieves stress. It is an outlet for my creativity. And finally it lets me produce useful items that I can wear or give away or even sell. What else provides some much?
Currently basking in the glow of making someone happy by giving hand-knitted hearts for Valentine’s Day. The multiple aspects of making in knitting make it lovely in so many ways.
I love knitting for many reasons……… it helps me deal with stress, and I get so much enjoyment out of it……. my ravlery motto is ….. I knit so I don’t kill people……. ! Stressful job, stressful life……..all made beautiful by knitting………. ! And drawday is my birthday!
I love knitting because it helps me slow down my Type A personality. If I knit while I’m reading / talking / watching TV and I can stay focused for a lot longer!! I almost love the process more than the outcomes – creating something truly original with just two sticks and yarn :)
Knitting keeps sane and energized. It feeds my soul with creativity and the fun of handling fiber!
Knitting is my sanity! My hands stay busy so that my mind is free to focus on other things. Plus, I I am rewarded with something beautiful to wear, display or share with those I love!
I love knitting because my gifts are not quickly forgotten.
I love knitting, because it is relaxing and fulfilling to my soul.
I love knitting as it relaxes me at the end of the day. I love seeing the fabric being created as I follow the pattern.
I love knitting because there’s always something else to learn, always a way to improve.
Knitting is therapy. The rhythm of the needles, yarn in my hands, and the emerging pattern always ground me. I joke with fellow knitting friends that knitting “has kept me from eating my young.”
I love knitting because it’s one of the only things I can do that quiets my brain at the end of the day.
I love knitting because it’s a constructive way in which to spend my free time and end up with something useful. In winter, knitting afghans, throws and scarves help to keep me warmer, as well. When I’m knitting I can have conversations with my husband and/or listen to the radio. And it’s a great way to pass the time.
It keeps me calm in groups of people, what I make is pretty, it helps me unwind after a long day and it’s a social activity that I actually enjoy!
I love knitting because it gives me something creative to do with my hands and is an obsession better than drugs, alcohol or any other. KNIT ON!
Knitting is my sanity. When I pick up my needles, everything smooths out. The stresses of the day fade away, and I get the pleasure of creating lovely gifts of warmth for my family and myself. Learning new techniques keeps me interested and challenged. The best thing is that in the past couple years since I learned to knit, I’ve become part of this incredible community of knitters both locally and online!
Best form of therapy!
Knitting gives me the chance to be productive and each project shows my accomplishment. It’s time not wasted and besides, it’s nice to be noticed for having knit something unique since, although I didn’t write the pattern, I chose the yarn and mastered each stitch till the item is complete.
Knitting makes me happy…a very relaxing activity and one that brings out my creativity. I love watching a skein of yarn turn into the most amazing garment, and made by hand. Perfection!
I love knitting because I can change the focus away from all the stresses of the day and concentrate on the comfort of the yarn flowing through my hands, the rhythm of the stitches, and the beautiful stitch patterns.
I love knitting because it keeps my mind engaged and I get to make useful things for the people I love to enjoy.
Cheaper than therapy! And you get a useful item out of it, too…
Knitting keeps me occupied and connected. Love to knit andisten to audiobooks. Love the the community of knitting groups I belong to.
what a delicious yummy color that is.
I love color, fiber ,the end result. I love when people see something ive made and ask if its possible to make them one. Makes me feel appreciated :)
What’s not to love? It’s theraputic and you can even wear the results (sometimes)!
I love to knit for so many reasons, makes me think of my Grandma everytime I knit something as she taught me when I was 12. It’s relaxing and my time. And I love making items to get to others, it’s a way to share a part of me with them.
I love to knit because I can feel the threads of time winding strands backwards in time to our most ancient ancestors who discovered they could make cords from plants. I love to knit because I can feel a vast web spreading over the globe and connecting all of us in our love of the simple acts of knit and purl.
I love knitting for all of the same reasons as all the others, but especially that it keeps me from chasing my husband around with the “honey-do” list!
