  1. I love the way knitting allows me to slow down and focus on the present moment: no need to hurry, no need to worry- just knit.

  2. I love knitting because it keeps me connected to the people I love around me – I get to think about them while I knit, and they get to remember they are loved when they wear it.

  3. I love the creative outlet that knitting gives me, and the meditative state it puts me in!

  4. I love knitting because it is my creative outlet. But I really love to share my knitting with others. I teach “how to” as often as possible. I love re-living the magic and discovery as I help beginners navigate the “mystery” of this ancient craft. So far my favorite student is my husband. You should see the great things he knits!

  5. I love knitting because it keeps my hands busy and I end up with lovely stuff to use or to give to others!

  6. I love knitting because it’s cheaper than therapy and I don’t have to make an appointment.

  7. Knitting is my natural stress buster! I love the feel of yarn in my hands, and making something creative. It is a portable hobby, and something I need to do every day!

  8. I love knitting because it’s such a flexible pastime. I can be social and knit, or I can do it contentedly all by myself.

  9. I Love to knit for various reasons; I love the texture and touch of the yarn, knitting also helps keep my hands busy and out of mischief :), it helps me through the hard/stressful times and relaxes me. Knitting also lets me create differrent sweaters/cardigans and other articles that I can always use or give aways as gifts. So glad there is knitting!

  10. In our fast paced lives, I like the relaxed feeling knitting brings to my life. I love the fact that I have a finished product and that I can share that with the people in my life.

  11. Knitting keeps me even keel. When I have a stressy day at work, I come home and knit for a bit, and life looks so much better. <3

  12. I love knitting because somehow, that bit of yarn turns into a beautiful thing I can wear, I can gift, I can use. I can choose the color I want, the style I love most (at the moment), and make it fit me the way I want. Its possibilities are endless!

  13. I love to knit because it relaxes me. I love the feel of the yarn in my fingers and I love to watch my project change and grow.

  14. I knit because it is a part of who I am. My fingers itch to knit. I love how it is a tangible expression of the love you have for another person. I love how it teaches me patience and perseverance. I love the community that surrounds me through knitting. Knitting is more than a hobby, it is a lifestyle. I love talking about knitting, looking at patterns on Ravelry, learning new techniques and sharing an amazing art form with other people.

  15. I love the colors, I love the feel of the yarn, I love making something practical, and I am thankful it calms me enough to deal with life’s challenges.

  16. I am a therapist and meet primarily with kids who have experienced serious trauma in their lives. Much of what I do can be pretty weighty and most of it influences a lot of lives. I love that knitting allows me to play, experiment, try new things, learn new skills, and even undo something that isn’t working. It’s the antithesis of my job in some ways and, as such, is MY therapy!

  17. I love to knit! I had been an avid crocheter for 20+ years and was bound and determined to knit. So I taught myself through You Tube! I love the fact that I can look at all the “knit” patterns and actually read them and make something beautiful. It also keeps me from smoking, which I quit over a year ago! Yay me :)

  18. I love to knit because it is so relaxing and keeps my hands and mind busy. Plus you end up with a beautiful project to enjoy.

  19. I love knitting because it provides it provides those perfect moments that balance stillness and creativity. For me, knitting is my true zen.

  20. I love to knit because it puts me in the moment, very relaxing and a lovely way to spend a few hours. I’m someone who put down my needles years ago and now that I’m “back at it” I’m thrilled to find out that I can use the Internet to get so much more out of the art of knitting. The websites and links to products, patterns and informational videos have opened up the world of knitting for me. All that information is as close as the click of a button. It’s wonderful and it has made knitting that much more fun for me.

  21. I love the creative process of knitting, making something that is original. But the process of one stitch entwined in another, one after another, makes me content. And I can take it anywhere and be happy to just sit and knit.

  22. Knitting helps center my spirit while creating beautiful, wearable art to share with family and friends.

  23. I love feeling connected to women (and men) from long ago in this craft, and I love the relaxing, creative process (well, except when I have to frog… ;) ).

  24. I love knitting because it is a craft that I can pass on to my family. This year we celebrated three generations of left handed knitters, my daughter, my nine year old grand daughter and myself.

  25. I love knitting because it has always helped me with stress relief. This was especially so while awaiting my breast biopsy report recently..and again after surgery. I was lucky in my diagnosis but awaiting the report was most anxiety provoking. I was able to knit two infant sweaters for my friend’s twin newborns, and work on my shawl. No need to think , just clicking of needles and holding beautiful yarn. – so relaxing.

  26. I love knitting because I struggle with alcohol and it helps keep me sober and busy. It’s the only thing that keeps me focused.

  27. Knitting helps me calm down after a long & sometimes stressful day chasing my two girls around, and helps me relax before being up with them half the night ;-)

  28. I love knitting because it calms me like nothing else. It makes me feel productive and relaxed at the same time.

  29. Knitting is an innate part of who I am. The whole process releases a creative energy within me and produces something beautiful. It teaches me life lessons along the way like patience, perserverence and even hope. The end result of knitting is a bonus and makes me a better person along the way.

  30. Why I Love Knitting…..I love to knit because it is not only relaxing but it brings my friends together ever week for a lovely afternoon of creating and conversation!

  31. Knitting is like breathing to me. It is my therapy. The repetitive motion, the endless possibilities, and the finished product, all contribute to my well being. This is why I love knitting. :)

  32. I love knitting, for many reasons: it provides a creative outlet; stress relief; helped to fill time positively, when my health prevented me for doing other things; satisfaction in seeing finished products being proudly worn by myself, friends and family. I also don’t feel guilty when I sit down to watch a show, because my hands are always busy!

  33. I love knitting just because I like playing with string. I was a strong knitter until 10 Nov 2010. I endured a stroke so complete, they weren’t sure I would live. While I was in the hospital, my friend brought me needles and yarn. I could not picture how to cast on, and told her I couldn’t ‘see’ it. Before she left, I was casting on, and she later told me that it brought her to tears. I improve on my knitting weekly!

  34. I love knitting because it is tactile. It gives the hands something to do, to manipulate needles and feel the yarn slide between your fingers. I love knitting because it is not only something that keeps your hand and mind busy but if you keep at it you produce something and sometimes the results are very unexpected. I also love knitting because it is relatively portable and requires very outlay for the equipment. And depending on the project, knitting is very meditative. That’s why I love knitting.
