  1. Let me count the ways .. well, I can’t … but a few would be: (1) the wealth of beautiful yarns available these days and the great pattern selections on Ravelry … and all the projects on Ravelry so you have a better chance of making a successful item. (2) the lovely gifts that knitting produces (3) the comraderie of knitting groups (4) knitting keeps me busy while watching TV and prevents me from snacking while I watch (aka good for nervous energy). (5) theres just something about that repetitive motion that really works for me!

  2. Knitting is one of my creative outlets. I always have several projects on my needles, because I just can’t resist starting a new project! One or more projects has to be mindless knitting, knitting I can do in a group, while I am talking, etc. Then, there are the challenges, the ones that focus my attention completely. Some of those become intuitive, others, not so much. But I MUST knit every day. I feel lost when a day goes by without a stitch made.

  3. Knitting allows me to transform one thing into another. I am in awe of where it takes me!

  4. I love the feelings of accomplishment, inner peace and pride when I select just the right yarn and spend my time creating a gift for someone. I rarely knit for myself, and enjoy the serene sen time I spend with each personalized gift.

  5. SO many reasons .. the beautiful yarns, the great patterns (and projects) on Ravelry, (LOVE Miss BB but I can’t reproduce it because I fiddled that pattern and didn’t take notes …) .. the fun of giving hand knit gifts to others (including my grown daughter .. I always run the proposed pattern and yarn by her before committing ;=) ). Also I simply love the calming, repetitive nature of knitting, and the fact that it provides an alternative to snacking while watching TV .. also (and not least) I love other knitters and the fun of getting together with them.

  6. I love knitting because it makes me a better person. I am more cool, calm, and collected. I don’t bite peoples’ heads off when they do something annoying. And…other people tend to be nicer when I am holding sharp sticks!

  7. I love making hand-made presents for my friends and family, it also helps relieve stress so it’s a win win. I think I’m addicted to yarn!!!!

  8. I love knitting because it releases my creativity. I cannot draw, I cannot paint, I’m not a good photographer….but give me sticks and strings and I am a Rock Star! Knitting is also my therapy. With 4 kids and a man child, therapy is needed daily.

  9. I love knitting because of its Zen-like qualities, because it keeps my brain active, because I make beautiful and useful things – and because it stops me killing people!

  10. I lot to knit because it enables me to create something with almost limitless possibilities and it is very relaxing.

  11. I love knitting because it lets my creative juices flow and let’s my mind wander all at the same time. It can be my challenge or my meditation depending on which project I’m working on. Not to mention the yarn…sigh. I love yarn.

  12. I love knitting because of the yarn! I love using the yarn in the process of knitting something. The fact that each inch of the yarn used in completing a project actually flows through my fingers at some point is pretty cool. Watching the color, texture and pattern come together is both exciting and calming. It’s a very satisfying creative outlet and stress reliever.

  13. I love knitting because it relaxes me and I end up with delightful things to wear and gift. :-)

  14. Knitting has:

    taught me patience
    keeps me calm
lets me ignore DH’s television choices
helps me stay awake to see a whole movie
introduced me to some dear friends
gives me an alternative to snacking
lets me give my time and skill to others
    and…
for the first time in my life, I feel creative and artistic!

  15. I love knitting because it is creative. I love watching the project come to life. I also like knitting because I can not sit with nothing in my hands to do. Knitting allows me to have something constructive in my hands.

  16. Knitting is my way to relax – sometimes a complex project that demands full attention forces me to take my mind off other stresses. Sometimes some “mindless stockinette” allows my mind to work through things. And sometimes, just sometimes, whatever I’m knitting keeps me from bludgeoning some deserving idiot to death!!

  17. I love the feeling that I can make something beautiful in colors I love and sized just for me.

  18. Knitting allows me to make unique gifts for my friends and family and also make room in my stash for more great yarn!

  19. I look forward to knitting because I know I will lose myself for a time in the rhythm of the pattern and in the feel of the yarn and the needles. There is such pleasure in seeing something come to life.

  20. Although I appreciate the meditative effects of knitting very much I really most of all enjoy the challenges. I love the last few finishing touches of a project that I have admired throughout the process.

  21. I love knitting because it relaxes me and makes me feel like I can keep busy while sitting in my home. It allows me to make gifts for my family, friends, or for charity that I know will convey to them that someone cared enough to make something especially for them.

  22. I love knitting because it makes me feel clever. I have no artistic abilities whatsoever, but I can take sticks and some string and make something beautiful. I’ve made lots of socks, but am still thrilled when I turn a heel. I also love that it can be as simple or as complicated as you choose.

Thanks for the chance to win such gorgeous yarn.

  23. I love knitting because I am not good with freeform creativity (scrapbooking, card making, etc.)–so I generally need a pattern to follow, and there are plenty of knitting patterns to be found. Also, the rhythm of the needles is calming, and the useful end result is a bonus!

  24. Why do I love knitting? it’s relaxing, grounding, creative, inspiring, gives me a sense of accomplishment and a way to gift to others some warmth, good thoughts and love.

And without knitting, I go a bit crazy and a lot antsy. Even if I can’t knit due to shoulder pain, I feel inspired and excited reading about it, ogling knitting porn, or spending time in a LYS. LOVE IT!

  25. I love knitting because it truly is my stress reliever. I am an adult probation officer and mother to 4 children. There are days when I may only get to knit for half an hour but I look forward to every minute. I crave it during the day, I dream about it at night and revolve other activities around it so that I can get my fix! I am so glad I was taught to knit! :)

  26. I love knitting because there is the right knitting for every mood and purpose. Socks make perfect waiting and meeting knitting. Lace is meditative. Cables are mathematical. Sweaters are prefect fall knitting, baby clothes are perfect for summer afternoons and mittens are great beach knitting in the middle of winter.

  27. I love the feel and look of the yarn and the colors and the creativeness of making a garment out of beautiful yarn!

  28. I love knitting because it reminds me of my mom. It’s relaxing and creative and productive

  29. I love all the colors and textures I get to play with! Walking by yarn shops was like a kid walking by a candy shop- I wanted whatever they did in there for myself.

And of course, the MAGIC of taking a string + sticks and ending up with clothes!

  30. I love knitting just because I love it. Ask any of my kids what mom likes and knitting is sure to be there rand the top. Thanks for the fun give away!!!!

  31. I love knitting because there’s no other way to get those beautiful colors or the luxury feel of yarns running through my fingers!

  32. I just love the quiet meditative mood that knitting brings to me. I sometimes have music on but often I turn everything “off”and just knit. At the end of it all you have a garment for yourself or someone you love and care about! I always have two (3, 4, or more) projects going to give me more challenges or fewer. Sometimes good ol’ stockinette or some complex lace! it just fits the mood, that is why I love it so.

  33. I learned to knit when I was ten. I’ve knit through all the stages of my life, the boyfriend sweater for the man I eventually married, the baby and kids clothes through the birth and growing years for seven children. (I even took my mitten knitting to the hospital when I was in labor.) I knit for myself and mostly my friends and family. Knitting is the “thread” that ties the years together. I find it calming and challenging infinitely entertaining.

  34. Knitting allows me to express myself creatively. It relaxes me yet stimulates my senses physically and visually. I enjoy the process of creating something beautiful and then gifting it to another. Thank you for the giveaway!

  35. I love knitting because I love seeing the magic tumbling off of my needles while I’m pretending to be unproductive in front of the TV!

  36. Handmade gifts are the best. Teaching my five granddaughters to knit great bonding time.

  37. I love knitting because……..well, because it’s knitting. I love the feel of soft yarn running thru my fingers, the creative process, the fact that with mere sticks and string I am able to make something that really fits. It fits my body, my personality and my lifestyle. I love knitting just because!
