  1. I love knitting because it is creative, I can revel in the process (I like sport weight yarn and will make a plus size sweater from it), it keeps me from going crazy in stressful times, it makes something useful (most of the time, if I finish it)and I can teach it!

  2. I love the sense of accomplishment — that I can actually create pretty, useful things out of sticks and string. :)

  3. I love knitting because it can be relaxing and meditative, it can be challenging and creative, it can be whatever I need and want it to be. Madelinetosh DK makes me love knitting even more!!!

  4. I love knitting because of the sense of accomplishment I get when I finish something. I have had jobs that didn’t offer that, and they were disastrous! And it is such fun to give things to people and make them happy!

  5. Creating something with “two sticks” and beautiful fiber – what’s not to love!?!

  6. I LOVE knitting because it’s soothing and relaxing to do yet productive in that you have something beautiful and useable…and the people are amazing!

  7. I love knitting because fond old memories of knitting with my mother, aunts and sister come flooding back and make me smile. I have learned that housework can wait and to do the things you love first, like knitting.

  8. I love to knit because it keeps my mind ‘comfortable’. When I pick up my knitting needles and feel the warmth of the yarn between my fingers, nothing else seems to matter. All of the days problems and troubles seem to become a lot smaller and more manageable . Knitting , is like wearing a pair of big cozy slippers on a cold winter day….that is why I like to knit :)

  9. I love the idea and process where you can take a length of yarn and some knitting needles make just about anything

  10. As with all the other comments, I find it relaxing and at the end have a sense of accomplishment in the finished garment.

Also, there’s the joy of seeing another’s face fill with happiness when I give a finished article to them, be it a simple scarf or a sweater; to a child or adult.

In addition, the click of the needles reminds me of watching my grandmother and mother knitting away, or repurposing yarn for a new garment, during WWII, when yarn was not readily available.
Whenever I knit it’s an opportunity to thank them in my memory, for teaching me how.

I love Berroco patterns and yarns. My fingers “itch” to begin each project I finally choose, from the booklets.

  11. I just do! It gives me something to look forward to do at the end of a rotten day at work. It has introduced to so many people that have become my best friends. It gives me a reason to travel to new shops. I just love it and do not know what I would do if I couldn’t.

  12. I love knitting because it allows me to relax, it challenges me and it has gotten me through some rough times. Knitting also allows me a creative outlet – there’s never enough time!

  13. Somehow, just taking a moment away to look at hat patterns… or sweater patterns… or any patterns can sooth and calm me. Knitting itself, of course, is a wonderful way to be productive even when I’m still; the combination is a win-win (-win, if I give away the result…).

  14. I love knitting, because it is time to be quiet, meditative, lower my blood pressure, sit around with my dog and husband, and think about the people I love and for whom I am knitting. A little love with each stitch. For the knitter and the knittee!

  15. I love feeling the yarn, and seeing the colors uncover in beautiful patterns. Also something is finished in the end!

  16. I love knitting for many reasons. It keeps me busy during times of stress or worry. It is a creative outlet. It helps me to show love for special people. (I only knit for a chosen few.) But possibly most important, knitting has brought me together with some very special friends. The comraderie of our knitting group is amazing.

  17. My Aunt taught me to knit in 1958. She would buy me kits to learn different techniques.
The kits often came with weird yarns. It’s just been in the last 5 or 6 years that I have
Been able to afford a treat of a luscious yarn every now n then. I have never slowed down.
I knit all the time and love it more today than yesterday!! I belong to a wonderful group
of knitting ladies who inspire each other. I knit mostly for my grand kids. But this year I’m
going to knit something for me, and a couple of skeins of Madelinetosh DK would be just the
thing to get me started with!!!!

  18. I love it because it keeps me occupied when I just need my hands to be busy…and because handknit socks are infinitely more comfortable than any store bought ones…and because it’s amazing what complex, intricate designs can come out of a few simple types of stitches!

  19. Knitting is my favorite form of meditation. As a bonus, there is (often) a finished object for me or a special person/animal to enjoy.

  20. I love knitting because it can be soothing or challenging as I need it to be, it prevents me from getting too figity when I’m waiting, I get to play with beautiful yarn, and I get a beautiful, useful finished product.

  21. I love knitting because it keeps my hands busy, it has brought me so many wonderful friends, and I can make unique items that are exactly what I want vs what the stores decide what’s in fashion.

  22. Knitting is my destiny.
I didn’t choose it – it happend to me.
I accept my destiny and love is the result.

  23. I love knitting because it is just who I am! I can’t remember when I learned to knit, but I can remember knitting in first grade during recess, knitting sweaters for my 4-H projects when I was ten, knitting baby clothes for my babies as an adult, and even knitting at the hospital when my father was dying. Knitting has seen me through many major …and not so major…events in my life. I love knitting and can’t imagine my life without it.

  24. I love knitting because it’s relaxing yet can be challenging. I get to work with beautiful colors and fibers, be creative, and make something useful and pretty. What’s not to love?

  25. I love knitting because it helps me put my energy into the creative process! It gives me something to do with my hands besides stuff my face so that I can relax. I love making things for people. I love making things for me that are cozy and warm. Yarn is like candy! Yum.

  26. I love knitting because when I feel as if I have failed at everything that day, just completing ONE ROW can turn the day around

  27. Knitting is creative, relaxing, challenging and enjoyable for me. I love the pleasure of others when I gift hand knitted items to people of all ages. I like challenging myself to learn more difficult projects. I like having several things in progress, some easier than others. I love the satisfaction of finishing, blocking and being please with results.

  28. I love knitting because … if you drop a stitch it does not bounce twice and roll under the couch :)

  29. I LOVE knitting because, not only can I make beautiful items to give, but knitting brings circles of friends together and sometimes the circles intertwine bringing more friends of friends together. No matter at what level of knitting one is at, the circles continue to grow and the more accomplished knitters help and encourage the beginners. So, not only do I LOVE knitting, but I also LOVE my friends old and new!

  30. I love knitting because it relaxes me and it is something I can do over lunch and in the evening.

  31. I love knitting for the soothing, repetitive quality, and the knowledge that I am “greasing” my creative wheels. But most of all I like knitting for its meditative quality. It doesn’t matter if I am a fast knitter, or even an accurate one, because it soothes my mind and allows me to regroup before getting back to the real world.
