Hey neighbors! What time of the year is it???

SWEATER WEATHER!

And you know what that means?

FUN FUN FUN at the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse
here in Chicago this Saturday!

Right in my very own neighborhood (squee!!) presenting YARNCON: Chicago’s own yarn-centric exhibition — “a place to promote, sell, and celebrate the yarny arts.” You can see the loveliness of the Fieldhouse and you’ll find old friends and new, learn some new fine craft stylings with classes, and enjoy meeting authors galore!

And who is coming to ChiTown to join in the fun this year? Mason-Dixon knitters Ann Shayne & Kay Gardiner, direct from Nashville/NYC, to meet, greet and sign their fabulous new book: “Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines” (and, hee, I’m totally affiliated with the aforementioned: PAGE 27!!)

Ladies & Gentlemen, please join us for riotous FUN & all things YARN:

  Monday Morning Mirth

Kindness ROCKS! Sometimes, it is the JOY to the world that spills over on all of us! Check out these fabulous Ladies of Team Breast Intentions who were part of this month’s Twin Cities 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk:

Melissa and her team joined over 3,000 walkers for the cure (read all about it on the I Hate Cancer blog)

but the thing that made them so fun was their lovely boobalicious HATS! Melissa made them using PINK Cotton Fleece and the Chic Beanie hat pattern, which you can get HERE

Rock on Ladies! We salute YOU!

Hooray for the Walkers!!!

New Threads FRIDAY!
*************************************

finally…

Basic Chic Hoodie
Pattern: Chic Knits
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease
Color: #149 Stone
Gauge: 19sts/24rows over 4″
Needles: #5 & #7

HA HA! I’ve been waiting for this day. Temperatures finally getting more fall like (at least in the morning) and over here that calls for celebration with a new outfit!

This is the lacy version of the Basic Chic Hoodie, and due to the fact that I’m still living in my bedroom (with its really low, craptastic lighting), pictures are, erm, a touch grainy so I couldn’t get a decent detail shot. This one was made at ISO800 and that’s pretty cool for such a high speed. You can see the noise (yellow splotches) all over the thing but hey, maybe it makes it look a little vintage?! like I toned it with a filter. My sister likes to *age* fabric things with tea; maybe this looks something like that. ;p

Even a trip to NY did not yield Gray Buttons! We’ve got almost every color under the Big Sky except that one, so we went with some mother-of-pearl beauties that have been marinating in the button box. It was interesting that they looked very (too) colorful and shiny while attached to the button cardboad, but once they were sewn on, they blend in rather nicely…

I’ve already got about 4 inches done on the yoke of another BCHoodie, in black wool and there’s a surprise detail about to hit the waves…

HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND!
