Onde = Wave = Ombre
another Onde Masterpiece – this time from Luxemburg!
Jorun writes: The test of all things knitted:
Would I buy this for twice the cost of the yarn if I found it in a shop? No, I wouldn’t.
Would I buy it for the price of the yarn? Yes, I might. But I would consider a larger size. I think my gauge in the knitted item is tighter than in the swatch I did.
Do I regret having spent time and money on the Onde? Mais non. Je ne regrette rien.
Would I knit it again? I really would like to knit something in the volcan colourway (the shocking pink/orange shade). I would choose another model, probably something ribbed.
Would I do something differently if I did it again? Apart from the size/gauge thing, I would make sure to buy an extra ball of yarn. The collar is too narrow. I had 1.5 meters left of the yarn after binding off and seaming.
What did I learn from this project? That I need to check my gauge “under way”. And I did that invisible side seam for the first time, and it worked very well.
BRAVA! Jorun – fresh, exciting Chloropyll!…
Love the chlorophylle!
Homestretch for me…I am on the front of my Onde
I have since ordered Zeste (yellow) for a top for my Pixie!
Onde addiction
I may be addicted as well. I spent almost all my time on vacation knitting and then ripping and then knitting the sleeves. But I finally deciphered the pattern instructions and thought that there must be an easier way to translate them.
I cast on for the front last night and I’m ready to fly to the finishing line.
Wonderful Onde work by Jorun,
I checked out her blog but could not figure out how to leave her a comment/ question as it was in her native tongue – Flemish ?? What I really want to know is how many balls of Onde she used so I can compare to my design to make sure I have enough as I am flying blind with this stuff but am very excited to have actually got some delivered all the way to Australia :)
Just click on *knitting* on the left side nav bar and you go to an English knitting page…
Hi Diana,
thanks for the compliment! The weird language in my blog is Swedish, but Flemish is a (weird) cousin, so your guess wasn’t too farfetched.
For the Onde pull, I used two 100g balls in Chlorophyll, and four 50 g balls in white. But [moment of complete confusion] the photo in my archives (http://hem.passagen.se/jorun/2004_05_01_jorun-knits_archive.html) definitely shows five balls in white. No wonder I had to make changes to the neckband to make the yarn last… I wonder where and when I lost the fifth wheel from my Onde-roadster. (The really bad thing about Onde is how it makes everyone come up with really bad word games!)
