All Gone to L@@K for America – ahemm – Dale Jr…
OK, now you all know this to be true: like most folks that are part of the Y2K Knitting Revolution, I knit while I’m watching, GASP, Television!
That’s right! No programming is safe from my remote, the least safe being (in the last year): NASCAR racing!
Oh gentle reader, there is nothing like the thrill of the engine while you’re zipping through the rows – the helmet cams, the hairpin turns, the pit stops, the DRIVERS!
Knitting and NASCAR were meant for each other – I truly believe I knit faster and better with that BUZZard soundtrack whining in my head…
And who do we love the MOST
on the NASCAR Hottie inner circle??
Imagine my delight, after struggling for a couple of hundred of miles on the winding twisting mountain turns of Interstate 77, in being rescued by none other than that Bleached Blonde Bad Boy, DALE Jr!
I was busy working, for the entire Road Trip TO Camp Lejeune, NC, on the Big Blue BizChic Cardi, seaming and knitting, picking up stitches and marking, using my whole arsenal of knitting accessories, which just kept disappearing into the door well exactly when I needed to put my hands on them.
We stopped for gas in, I believe, Woodlawn/Hillsville, Virginia, and there HE WAS! – all bright and shiny, right by the cash register, ripe for the first vacation souvenir purchase.
So along came Dale Jr. on our adventure, becoming THIS.
No more fumbling for the needle gauge finder (although I did have to cut it in half to fit it into the case), no more grasping blindly into the depths of my bag trying to fish out a stitch marker, just everything in its place, at the ready for that next big PIT STOP on the fly speeding toward the Finish Line and that B/W checkered flag.
AND, did you know, Dale Jr. is North Carolina born and bred? Just perfect! Even though we were headed for the other side of the State, it was good to have a Homeboy on board…
THIS question remains: when in the world did he start DYEING his HAIR???
But why are you going to Camp Lejeune? I used to live there – are you vacationing with Marines?
Hi Laura! I went with my family to visit my nephew, who is stationed there waiting to be shipped out…
Six of us stayed in the FABULOUS family housing down on the Atlantic coast, that was part of the Base…
Welcome home! Glad you had a good visit in MY home state. I’ve never been a race fan, but Greta did have me watch a bit (of non-NASCAR)when I stopped to see her on Sunday ~
Bonne Marie, I wonder if you’ve changed anything on your blog for coding – I can’t get photos to load whereas before I had no problem. I haven’t changed anything on my machine. Just curious.
I also can no longer get your pictures. I have a friend that I knit with and she has the same problem.
Welcome back! We missed you at KIP. Were you able to finish your poncho on the road?
I too can’t get the pics and I’m totally with you about the NASCAR and knitting I am the hero wife to the guys that my DH works with because not only do I “let” him watch but I watch too. Little do they know that this gives me great fairly interuption free knitting time.
For those who can’t get pictures to load: you need to *refresh* the copy of the pages you have.
Go to the toolbar at the top of your browser and click on Refresh or Reload…
Then you should see the pages…
Sadly, after refreshing the screen, I still do not see your pictures? Welcome back!
Oh thank heavans your home! My morning coffee just wasn’t the same.
I tried the refresh button and I still don’t get the pictures – help!
Refresh didn’t work for me either.
Maybe we need to start a knitters who love Nascar group??? There really is nothing like a good bit o’ yarn & the engines running. Makes my heart go pitter patter.
Gotta love them good ol’ boy southern Nascar drivers.
Hee-hee….LOVED this post! Glad you had JUNIOR ridin with you…if you had the time you could have come over thissa way and seen the Actual Earnhart Museum and all. Nothin like the *boogity boogity boogity BOYS, let’s go RACING* to get that knitting in the round a flyin off them needles!
I have the projects all lined up on the COUCH, (two ribby shells included!) the OLYMPICS are starting on Friday night….prime knitting time!
I too watch NASCAR and knit every Sunday! Here’s a hint about your pictures. I couldn’t get them to load at work either – but disabled my Norton firewall and then could see them perfectly.
Thanks Eileen! I just couldn’t figure out what was going on – still don’t understand it. Anyone out there know why the firewall would disallow graphics from loading?
Greta! I loved North Carolina! More exciting adventures to follow…
I can’t wait for the Olympics either – I’ve watched some of the qualifying coverage and the Games are going to be VERY EXCITING!
Hope you didn’t get car sick in our lovely Mountians. I am just a hop, skip, and a jump up 81 from the intesection on 77- Know Hillsville well- Imagine 77 with ice and snow YIPS!!!! I thought about you during the hurricane- hope you stayed dry and welcome back ,,,, Nascar is great for spinning as well!!
If you have never attended a real live NASCAR race, do it! Of course, you don’t get the true ambience, the true flava of this kind of racing unless you do it at the Charlotte Speedway! It is a shock to the eyes the senses, everything! Completely different from any other sporting event. A very high Wow factor.
I forgot about the Olympics!!! I can’t wait. BTW, your pics loaded fine for me. Must be some sort of browser issue.
I always have my knitting out while watching hockey games.
i haven’t been able to see them either. disabling the firewall didn’t work, but disabling the ad blocking did. now everything’s normal. yay!!!
