And there-in lies the problem: ahemmm, FASHION!
I see sweaters on the street, on the rack, AND, now that it’s becoming, for real, Sweater Weather, on display in all of the Local Yarn Palaces…
I ran into We’ll Keep You in Stitches yesterday to snag some 24″ circs to finish the Pshawl neckline and what do my gluttonous eyes spy?
The new Fall 2004 Adrienne Vittadini pattern book! WOOT! IMHO, this design house (anybody out there know WHO the actual knitwear design genius is?) puts out the BEST, bar none, collection of patterns every season. (To say I’m seriously underwhelmed by the Fall offerings at Vogue & IK is an understatement…)
AND, as I was checking out, I saw these hand crafted Birch Needles by the register (let’s hear it for IMPULSE PURCHASING YAY!!!). Actually, just what I needed to whip out some Super Bulky Scarves without beating myself to death with my other pair of looooong #19 needles. These are from the folks at Lakewood Needle Co. in Milwaukee, WI.

Temptress! Enabler! (Who says those are bad words?) I feel an “errand” to my LYS coming on to look for Vittadini. I haven’t yet made one of their designs, but I was sorely tempted to get last year’s fall patterns – your comments cinch it. Please share a modeling shot of the pshawl — I can’t wait to see it on – it looks great adn I’ve been admiring its progress all along.
The Vittadini patterns are always so elegant and the yarns soooo luxurious. Pshawl looks great and needs your bod in it to strut its stuff.
I think the previous comment is right–I’ve also heard that Norah Gaughan is the designer. She’s marvelous.

The quality of Vittadini design are beyond compare…and always have been! I’ve never understood why they are not more widely touted. Cheers to you for recognizing how wonderful they are.

Urban Pshawl is looking tres chic! And, for that matter, so is b.Lime. I just have one question, can we join the fiesta and partake of the dancing if our red hair comes out of a bottle?

I love those little needles…I see them at La Droguerie, in kits for knitting doll clothes. They’re so cute and stumpy one can’t help but love ’em!
Agreed – Vittadini designs rock. One note of caution – they are usually a ball (or more!) under in the yarn estimates for sweaters.
