Woman on the VERGE of a New Threads Friday
********************************
and to prove I can’t do anything in a direct way, I’m binding off the last stitches of my Urban Pshawl even as I write this…
My fascination with my knitted projects, in typical late summer fashion, ebbs and flows in equal parts love and disdain. A Sine Wave of positive and negative charge – AC Knitting Electricity, if you please…
IN A DC WORLD!
I need to be more linear and travel that Stitchery Circuit in a direct fashion…
And there-in lies the problem: ahemmm, FASHION!
I see sweaters on the street, on the rack, AND, now that it’s becoming, for real, Sweater Weather, on display in all of the Local Yarn Palaces…
I ran into We’ll Keep You in Stitches yesterday to snag some 24″ circs to finish the Pshawl neckline and what do my gluttonous eyes spy?
The new Fall 2004 Adrienne Vittadini pattern book! WOOT! IMHO, this design house (anybody out there know WHO the actual knitwear design genius is?) puts out the BEST, bar none, collection of patterns every season. (To say I’m seriously underwhelmed by the Fall offerings at Vogue & IK is an understatement…)
AND, as I was checking out, I saw these hand crafted Birch Needles by the register (let’s hear it for IMPULSE PURCHASING YAY!!!). Actually, just what I needed to whip out some Super Bulky Scarves without beating myself to death with my other pair of looooong #19 needles. These are from the folks at Lakewood Needle Co. in Milwaukee, WI.

(20 min. later…)
SNEAK PEAK
the Urban Pshawl is FINISHED!!!
Wow, is that the new fall Vittadini?!
I’ve been searching and waiting to find it online!
Chosen anything yet?
I’d love to know what those rather interesting needles are for!
Green with envy. Been dying to get my hands on the fall Vittadini.
oooh vittadini…anything ?-along inspiring?
wow those are some huge honkin needles!
love the shawl! where is the model du jour? :)
Wheeee! The Pshawl is so pstunning!
I think the designer for Vittadini is Norah Gaughan. I love her stuff. And yours too!
I have to grab that new Vittadini. The cover sweater is gorgeous. Love your shawl. You should model it so we can see how wonderful it looks on you! :-)
Please model!
I’m glad I peaked! It’s great! Makes me want to add another project to my 35-year plan…
I adore Vittadini. I think I have almost every one. Even their older stuff is still fantastic and classic.
the shawl looks great…please model! and love those needles…
Temptress! Enabler! (Who says those are bad words?) I feel an “errand” to my LYS coming on to look for Vittadini. I haven’t yet made one of their designs, but I was sorely tempted to get last year’s fall patterns – your comments cinch it. Please share a modeling shot of the pshawl — I can’t wait to see it on – it looks great adn I’ve been admiring its progress all along.
The Vittadini patterns are always so elegant and the yarns soooo luxurious. Pshawl looks great and needs your bod in it to strut its stuff.
I think the previous comment is right–I’ve also heard that Norah Gaughan is the designer. She’s marvelous.
I think Norah Gaughan was the designer but I read this:
http://www.berroco.com/knitbits/knitbits_67.html
and it seems like she’s moved on to other pursuits – wonder if this might’ve been her last project for them?
SOMEONE else is in the kitchen cookin’ with Adrienne???
The quality of Vittadini design are beyond compare…and always have been! I’ve never understood why they are not more widely touted. Cheers to you for recognizing how wonderful they are.
Most excellent poncho.
Will you be selling the Urban Pshawl pattern? If so, I am definitely interested!!! Fabulous…
Oooh… Urban Pshawl? Yes, please!!! I hope you’ll be offering the pattern for sale. I’d love to make one for myself. And, I’ve not yet ventured into AV territory, but I have been tempted. Is this the season? Maybe…
Urban Pshawl is looking tres chic! And, for that matter, so is b.Lime. I just have one question, can we join the fiesta and partake of the dancing if our red hair comes out of a bottle?
Day-UM…that is one fine looking sweater.
I love those little needles…I see them at La Droguerie, in kits for knitting doll clothes. They’re so cute and stumpy one can’t help but love ’em!
Agreed – Vittadini designs rock. One note of caution – they are usually a ball (or more!) under in the yarn estimates for sweaters.
