  Monday Morning Mirth

just remembering I forgot to tell you who
my favorite actor of 2008 was…

Some interesting Chicago Achievements from 2008 (from the Red Eye):

10.Tax factor
The buck tops here: Chicago has the highest sales tax of any major U.S. city at 10.25 percent.
My wallet is screaming “UNCLE!”

9. Olym-pick us
Chicago is carrying the torch for the U.S. in the race to host the 2016 Olympics.
WTH! Fix the Subway first!

8. Come fly with us
Chicago is the place to be–or the top stopover, at least.
Incredibly inescapable…

7. Chart toppers
In 2008, the ego landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the third straight time: Kanye West…
uberYAWN…

4. Murder capital
We can only hope we’re the Second City in this category: Chicago is neck-and-neck with New York.
Somebody please save us from ourselves! SOS, Caped Crusader!

3. Knighted No. 1
The Batman flick, the No. 1 grossing movie of the year, was shot predominantly in Chicago over a three-month span.
And baby you haven’t lived until you’ve come face-to-face with Christian Bale on a dark Chicago St.

2. Corruption central
Federal authorities arrested Gov. Blagojevich earlier this month on charges he attempted to sell Obama’s Senate seat.
MORON!

1. The worldwide leader
On Nov. 4, Barack Obama, a Chicagoan, was elected the first black president of the U.S.
Celebrate this hopeful event horizon!

SWEET HOME CHICAGO, indeed…

But back to the important things: Christian Bale, those eyes, that bod, just enough chest hair…

  1. I’m with you on lowering murder rates (nationwide). It’s one of the things I like best about where I live now. When I first moved in, the most exciting thing on the police blotter was a noise violation and someone trying to forge checks.

  2. The young man is definitely gorgeous — but does he have a brain? The ability to hold an intelligent conversation is what turns *my* crank! (Of course, I suspect I’m old enough to be his mother, so…)

  3. Response to Marg –

    All interviews I’ve seen/read about/with him – he’s very intelligent.

  4. What?? Wait, wait a minute, back it up there missy. Are you telling us you came face-to-face with Christian Bale on a dark Chicago street!!? And…what??

(I know what I’d have done. Nothing. Because I have fear of celebrities.)

    (then I would have died)

  5. Yeay for Christian Bale! I am ok with him maybe not being very smart (I don’t want to marry him anyway, I just want to look at him. Ok, and hold him too).
