Monday Morning Mirth
That’s right. First, they resurrected those hideous Hammer pants.
And now, and I apologize for yer Eyes, they’ve dug up what I can only call the worst looks from the 80’s!
Just repeat after me: “It’s Only a Movie, it’s Only a Movie…(and gawd forgive me for wearing which look?”
Oh, that was bad the first time around – but having to see it again is just painful! lol Fingers crossed it doesn’t catch back on in any way…
It’s already catching on, at least here in New York. Hammer pants, acid-wash jeans, jelly shoes, neon colors and — in ads, at least — shoulder pads. And I saw a woman wearing plaid knickers (by that I mean the knee pants, not underwear) in the subway last week. (*shudder*)
My eyes! My eyes!
Oh yeah — I did the suit-with-sneakers thing, and I had Limited Express acid-wash pegleg jeans with multi-colored back pockets and a HIGH waist that either buttoned up or FLAPPED DOWN into points…. wore them with a boxy (of course!) long-sleeved shirt with giant SHOULDER PADS, and pointy flat black boots. Radical!
OMG, hilarious. Brings me right back to my youth….I’m guilty of at least some modified version of some of those looks……..yikes! And we thought we looked to hot!
Even my favorite Thrift Store would barf over those looks! Makes me look put together, I tell ya!
I can’t believe them made Kim Catrell look even older w/her flashback 80’s look. She was way cute in the 80’s.
You know what’s even scarier? Those half & half droopy – falling down super loose “hip hop” on top and tight skinny rocker/skater legs below the knee – that some teen boys are wearing. It’s as if the boys can’t decide to be hip hop or skater dude.
I have been seeing all too many tight short black leggings on the street lately–and I live in Boston!
LOL
At least I haven’t seen any Hammer pants on the street.
