  Monday Morning Mirth

Magic-Ingred-7987

I’ve been a very busy B this winter so far – one of the best presents from the holidays was a Crock Pot!

On any given Sunday, you’ll find my house filled with fine aromas and my tums with delectable delights.

My good friend happybean recently sent me a recipe for chili. It had an ingredient that was surprising until I remembered what the lovely Ms. Bean was known for.

Can you guess the Secret Ingredient? (Hint: it’s not the beer…)

  1. Love, love, love my slow cooker. I try and use it, at least, once a week. My favorites are stuffed peppers (not my favorite meal, but hubby’s, and the crock makes it easy peasy), greek chicken (olives and artichoke hearts…ummmm), and turkey thighs. I also have a pork marango to die for.

  2. Fun! My favorite cookbook for this is The Gourmet Slow Cooker–http://tinyurl.com/yj9vlgd. Its basic premise is that a few initial steps–browning meat, getting fresh ingredients–will result in something much tastier than what you get when you dump n drop raw meat and frozen veggies. Everything I’ve made from this cookbook has been quite tasty. I’ll be over on Friday night for your Boeuf Bourgignon . . . ; )

  3. Made some pressure cooker chili last night, and added coffee, but dark beer? Whoa, never thought of that! I see more chili in my immediate future. Thanks for the link!

  4. Oooh the slow cooker!

I got obsessed awhile ago due to the cookbook “Make if Fast – Cook it Slow” – based on a lady who cooked something in her crock pot for one whole year. Brownies, chai latte, playdough?? – you name it – all the recipes can also be found at her site – http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

I have made 10 – 12 of her recipes, and only one was directly sent to the garbage. User error suspected!
