a happy day Friday January 22, 2010

TGIF! That’s right. We’re all about the weekend over here at Chez Chic.

It’s been a long slog through the M-F this time and we are ready to raise a cheer to a little respite.

The weekend beckons and with it a lot of progress — here’s our Aleita ready for action.

We love this color — I’ve been calling it Malted Milk but the actual shade is “Milk Chocolate” Shepherd’s Wool by Stonehedge Fiber Mill. We picked it up at Arcadia up on Lawrence a while back — and we wanted every color!

This is very beautiful merino, spun in our home state of Michigan, that knits up into a luxuriously soft garment.

I pressed the bottom of the piece to preview the finished fabric and ooh la la. We like! To finish it properly, it’s going to get a warm, sudsy dunk in a bath at some point, but we have a ways to go…

And that would be: straight to the grand opening of the new downtown Anthropologie store, housed in the very same building that houses ye olde day job! So very exciting (or catastrophic to my wallet) as the case may be!

PARTAY!

  1. Love the sweater and I came across this yarn on my travels this year and I must agree. I have made some stranded mittens with it and they are SO SOFT and just plain LOVE! The colors are just awesome and I would love to use this yarn with more knitting. Good Choice. Happy TGIF!

  2. Looks great! I bought that issue of IK specifically for this pattern, but haven’t made it yet. I don’t usually wear vests but may have to put this in the queue.

  3. Aleita is coming along nicely. This yarn is Michigan’s best export! It is soft and warm and the colors are terrific. Most of the women in my knitting group have made garments and accessories out of this yarn. ENJOY your project!

  4. Oooohhh! Happy TGIF to you and thanks for sharing the pic. Now I might have to buy yarn (oh darn!)

  5. That has come out wonderfully. Pathetically this sweater is still on my queue waiting for me to get around to it. It’s not like I don’t have yarn to use for it either! (and TGIF for the Win!)

  6. I just finished a cowl using Shepherds wool from Stonehedge Fiber mill. It’s very soft and all the colors were gorgeous!

  7. Anthropologie!!!!! Yikkes!!! I love, love, love that store: fun, funky and awesome. Your sweater is pretty awesome, too.
