Monday Morning Mirth
Yes, the weather outside is frightful, but m’dear the bread’s delightful…
I arose very early this morning (new baby in nursery right above my bedroom) and decided to just get going.
There were some really ripe bananas lingering on the counter and before I knew it, they were in the oven making a mouth-watering aroma in the house.
Especially delightful, this bread looks like my Mom’s loaf! Mine always seem to come out flatter and more golden, but, and I’m not sure what happened (maybe a little stiffer dough?) but there you have it. It’s always been one of the greater wonders of the world to me that even though I make many of my mother’s recipes, they never seem to turn out exactly like her’s, even using the same ingredients, same brands, even Cooking It in Her Kitchen with Her Looking over my Shoulder, no, they do not come out the same.
Her’s are always Better. ;p
I love my Mom!
I love my Aunt Florence, too! She was the power behind the Crockpot gifting and there was a little moola left over to get something whimsical and delightful to trim a sweater:
Here’s a hand-made rosette that I found at Soutache up on Damen St. (by Webster). My muse, Eden, and I were traveling about and she ofter goes to this store to buy trims and such. I ended up with a couple of beautiful ribbon brooches to perk up my cardigan collection.
I am swooning over that rosette! It would be so gorgeous on a hat, or a bag, or a cardigan, as you suggested. Crossing my fingers that they have a website.
Your bread looks delicious; must be the weather, as I’ve made bread twice since Sunday!
Hope yours tastes yummy too! And whose new baby is there?
What a lovely post. I miss my mom. I think I’ll bake a little something today too – we got snow last night and I’m hoping it will offset the cold, cold, cold – baking something sounds cozy and warm.
What a pretty pin! Very Bonne Marie.
Its lovely that you and your Mom can share baking together. My family won’t let me make fudge. It always turns out runny. I use the same receipe as my Mom and my daughter, but mine is always more like ice cream topping than fudge. Go figure.
