Ah, yes, ladies and gentlemen, ’tis the season of the Red Carpet!

And wherever there’s a chance to Be Seen, there will be those of the celebrity persuasion that grab the spotlight and flare in the glare!

WITNESS: January Jones (wearing Versace) in electric blue, mit cones…

Thumbs up? Thumbs down, gentle reader?

  1. I think… I think I like it. Despite the coffee filters and the redonkulous train. Maybe just because it is such a great colour on her, and hey, if you cant go a little bit nuts on the red carpet, then when can you?

  2. While I liked the strapless/one strap trend of the evening, the only thing I found redeeming about this dress was the color. The texture makes me think of pencil shavings, and cones are always just… No. Will they never learn that?

  3. Indeed! The Cones were the deal breaker for me.

I could almost go with the dress as a modern take on the MMen wardrobe from the 60’s but the cones… No.

  4. Darling I don’t have anything to wear…I know I’ll make a dress out of this Bedspread!

  5. The first thing I thought of was, hey, those little paper umbrellas that come in tropical drinks! That’s festive, right?

  6. I’m with woolythinker. I think I like it… I WANT to like it. And if there is just one place you can get away with it… It would be the red carpet! As for the cones, I love Madonna and Gaga…’nuff said. ;)

  7. Not a big fan. Blue did seem to be the color of choice, though, from that electric blue to the almost dull blue grey of some of the dresses. Always love seeing the fashion! But, Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks wife?? Why did she wear that? Or maybe it was just an unflattering picture??

  8. Love the color, but hate the dress. You don’t even look at her beautiful face since the dress is so distracting. Pointy cones for your bust is never attractive…ever!

  9. I realize the idea is NOT to wear something you’d throw on for a dinner at Red Lobster, so I’m O.K. with the train and the feather-like texture. But cone boobs? Seriously? Why do designers keep trying to change the natural shape of a breast?

  10. Yah, Cone Boobs! Great color, interesting texture (fish scales?), wild train — but cones?!?! Not for me, thanks. Surely there’s another way to “top off” this dress, that wouldn’t sacrifice the WOW factor that one might want for the red carpet.

  11. Someone on the Early Show said it looks like a costume…not a dress. There are so many wonderful ways to look glamourous and classy — why would you go out in this?

  12. Color, ok, cone boobs, yeah fine, but the way the skirt flairs up and out – hideous! Where’s the money shot? Versace managed to make January Jones look unattractive – a major design accomplishment.

  13. The color is beautiful! The dress looks like someone crossed a quilted bedspread with a corset. It’s definitely different.
