Monday Morning Mirth
Into the heinous night that is the Midwest Winter cold, one is so very tempted to abandon all feminine style.
But lately, we’ve noticed more and more people embracing something that has been as fundamentally shunned as flower prints with plaids, white after Labor Day, and faux fur yarn!
Socks with Sandals!
Thumbs UP? Thumbs DOWN?
Sorry. If it’s cold enough to wear socks, it’s cold enough to leave the sandals in the closet! IMHO.
I sometimes wear socks with sandals, but I don’t ever wear heels anymore, so I don’t look like that at all. I also wear the warmest winter footgear I can find, so that leaves the sandals out until spring arrives. When I do, I wear them to show off my pretty hand made socks. Socks rock!
have to give socks with sandals a NO.
Eeeeeeewwwwwwwww…..
That is all.
Oh, that’s such a big thumbs down… especially with those short socks…
HUGE thumbs down. Though, to be the voice of dissent, those black sandals on the right? With trousers of the correct length, the socks might–MIGHT–look okay.
I’m fascinated that two of these pairs of socks are peep-toe — I think this is a look that could only POSSIBLY work for the thin, young, and adorable.
Urgh, sandals…in the winter. So let’s pair them with socks to make them warmer. I think the cold has frozen these poor womens’ brains.

Oh wait! I take that back. If they were hand knit socks this look would totally rawk!
I don’t think it’s any uglier than the layered look with shirts or tanks tops hanging out below sweaters or another top below shrugs…
I’m actually surprising myself, because outlandish fashion is usually a no-no for us mere mortals, but I like this trend! So much, that I wish I could pull it off myself….which I can’t…..
That’s a HUGE thumbs down!
Cute, if one were a vampy twenty-something!! as Pam said…. I’m more into ‘warm and comfortable’ :)
way way way down!
Nuh, uh, no way!
Thumbs way down…unless you’re a 6 year old girl.
Cuz nothing says “European mathematician” like socks with sandals.
Sorry, it’s a big “thumbs down” for me. I can’t even wrap my mind around hand-knit socks with dress shoes, mary janes, etc… so the sock/sandal thing just ain’t gonna happen!
Thumbs down…although for most people the socks with sandals look is much more pedestrian than your pics….even all glammed up….no go.
I think they are darling — for a 20’s someone (ok, not the nude socks). As a 50’s someone, I’d look like my husband’s frumpy grandmother which is definitely a look I’m trying to avoid.
I’d call those tights more than socks, and thus I think the weight of the “socks” makes a huge difference, in ADDITION to the age & style of the person wearing it. It’s a look, and if you can pull it off, well okay, maybe. But as a rule, NO.
I don’t really like the first two pairs of socks (the sheer ones) so its hard to say whether its the socks or the socks with sandals that I object to.
I cannot get that picture out of my head. Heinous. Giant thumbs down. Saw your patterns in the Yarn Barn catalouge today. Awesome.
Way down!!!!!
Thumbs down.
Didn’t we leave that in the 80’s and for good reason!! Unless its a Birkie, it is a huge NO!!
I have clog-like shoes that I wear indoors with socks, but they don’t show the toe at all. I just don’t feel like everybody needs to prove they’ve gotten a pedicure in January.
No no no. Not a good look.
Wow, this remind me the ZZ Top video, She’s Got Legs! In that decade it was ankle socks with heels. I do like the blue socks and the cut-out sandals – that’s a very fashion forward look – but then I live in NY.
Good for a laugh.
