Monday Morning Mirth

Here’s my annual Eeenie, Meanie, Minie, NO picks from Oscar Night 2011!

First of all, IF you made it all the way through what could’ve been one of the most tepid TV broadcasts ever, I salute you!

Lucky for me, I frittered away my time knititng and wondering which gown I would or wouldn’t wear. So from left to right:

Johansson: a very gorgeous color in a very gorgeous style with subtleties that amuse and enhance the Feminista!

Kidman: brave to wear Dior/Galliano but whoops! I saw her being interviewed on the RCarpt and the gowns bumpers made her hubbie stand about a foot a way from her (you can see him Trying to the left)…

Witherspoon: THIS. On moi. Armani. (She was wearing perfect emerald earrings!)

Blanchett: the heavy beaded upper breast-plate thingie that made it look like draperies/valence. Li-lack.

But back to the show – was it just me or did the attempt by the producers/writers to bridge the Gen Gap fall so flat it ended up being just an ironic glimpse into the actual State of the Communication Union ala 2011?

And Franco, dude, next time (?), show up for rehearsals and drink some Red Bull, eh?

I’d rather Justin Timberlake hosted. OR Sandra Bullock. Or RBrand?

  1. Great comments! I wondered if Scarlet Johansson used an egg beater to do her hair. Loved the Armani dress and the emerald earrings were gorgeous. As for James Franco, our whole family wondered if he had a few cocktails or a valium before the show…he was really out of it!

  2. I watched the ENTIRE THING, but did knit during a lot of it. I should get an Oscar of my own. Reese Witherspoon’s dress–LOVE! James Franco–stoned! But it was probably medicinal. After that broadcast everybody involved probably needed medical attention. Bleh!

  3. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I made it until 10:00. Reese’s dress was so beautiful, as was she! I’ll give Anne Hathaway credit for trying to keep things a little fun but overall a D-U-D!

  4. Reece’s ensemble – beautiful, yes, but the overall look reminded me of old-school Barbie, y’know, from the 50’s.

  5. I agree! Where was the funny? Where was the wacky? When Sandra Bullock came out I was like: oh, please take over this show! My fave dresses were Scarlett Johansson and Ann Hathaway (the red Valentino she wore on the red carpet).

  6. I couldn’t agree more about the Oscars – so boring… James Franco was in a trance! Ann Hathaway tried to carry it on her own – at least it was a good try. When Billy Crystal came out, you could just sense the relief of the audience – now HE”S host material! What would we do without our knitting??

  7. “Blanchett: the heavy beaded upper breast-plate thingie that made it look like draperies/valence. Li-lack.”

LOL I thought it looked like a target, myself.

    I loved Amy Adams dress.
