Monday Morning Mirth
In Case you have’nt had Breakfast/Lunch yet,
let me recommend a Chez Chic favorite!
This box came to me delivering an notorious eBay purchase…
INSIDE? Not what you might think, mes petits amis, but another kind of cool Macaroni…
Six lovely balls of Linen Drape in Natural – YUM!
Now all I have to do is get five more and I can make a cardi…
What’s your best eBay score?
Well, the best Ebay score I had didn’t involve yarn. My daughter’s lovey is a Ty stuffed baby cat that the company phased out years ago. I had originally bought the cat for my son, but he never bonded with it. My daughter adopted it and made it her lovey. When I realized this, I went crazy trying to find another one. Having a spare lovey is an important thing if you ever hope to wash it. I couldn’t find one anywhere, until I found one super cheap, in mint condition on ebay.
That linen drape is divine!
Hmm. I’ve quite a few eBay touchdowns, but the best yarn score had to be 10 balls of Jaeger Cashmina. It was more than half off and the price included shipping from the U.K.
Hmmm…I’ve got some Linen Drape (sorry, cornflower blue). Which cardi did you have in mind for this yarn? I am in need of inspiration!
My best eBay score is not knit-related. A pair of brand new, never worn, lizard Dan Post cowboy boots for 99 cents!
17 skeins Colinette Wigwam for $38.00! The listing was spelled wrong, so I was the only bidder. And there was the lovely vintage bark cloth knitting stand chock full o’ vintage needles for $9.00.
I haven’t tried buying yarn off of ebay yet — but my best ebay score was a small (unused)charcoal grill for $20.
A vintage aluminum Christmas tree for 10 bucks.
My best ebay score is finding an identical toy that my dad brought me back from a trip he’d taken in the late fifties. It’s a mechanical blonde gorilla whose eyes light up, roars, walks and raises its arms. I started crying when I won it and it’s one of my favorite possessions.
Bonne Marie, After Googling “Rowan Linen Drape Natural,” it came up with The Wool Shack (I think in Australia). 2 Balls at 8.45 AUD. God knows what the shipping would be, but there you go!
Best ebay score…hmmm, yarnwise, this handspun and dyed silk/alpaca blend in beatiful tangerines and wines. It’s like looking at a sunset, I still haven’t found the “perfect” pattern for my yarn. I just love to fondle it.
Can you believe that I only bought ONE thing from eBay? (Rowan Handknit DK.) But it was a score, because a year after I bought it I “re-encountered” the seller online and I now host her site. So, I made a new friend :-)
I’m now intrigued. What kinda cardi are you planning on knitting with that Linen Drape?
Hmm yummy mac and cheese. :) I have had some linen drape in a wine colorway in my stash a good long time. I haven’t found the perfect project for it yet. I can’t wait to see what you are going to make with yours.
My best scores on ebay were probably Opal sock yarn…but not recently though.
Do you think that the hemp that elann has right now would be a good sub for linen drape?
I bought a huge lot of old used knitting needles many years ago. It was only a couple of dollars and I am still using most of them today :)
