You’re gonna love it! I have one that looks similar (don’t know what brand it is, bought it on EBay) but I love, love, love it.
Yeah, a good quality swift! It sure looks “purdy”. I bet it was a well thought out decision – for me it wd. be. (I’m still looking for that perfect, sturdy, quality swift that I’d be willing to give my bucks up for.) Well, many, many happy hours of winding to you BM :)

Looks like a great swift – and definitely better than the accursed metal ones.
Yea! Glad you got one!
Yeah, my husband bought me a metal swift for Christmas last year and it broke not 5 minutes after I took it out of the box. When I returned it to the yarn store I paid extra to upgrade to a wooden one. If I hadn’t, I’d always be looking at that ugly metal swift thinking, “One day, I shall get a beautiful wooden swift.”
One day is now honey! Cause I’m worth it. :-)
My wood swift is about 60 years old and does not have a clamp, so I have to hold it at its base. But there is something about winding yarn on a wooden swift that makes the process so organic. Enjoy yours…
Oh, a wooden swift! I love mine. I bought it from the JoAnn Web site with a half-off coupon. It paid for itself almost immediately
Hi Bonne! Thanks for your comment…it was so sweet of you! I do really hope to have the opportunity of KIP-ing with you all again in the future. Have a good day!
ENVY!
Enjoy!
Yay! It’s lovely. I have a wood one too but I have no idea what brand it is. I use it quite a bit and can’t imagine to going back to rolling yarn by hand. Although when I spilt a skein of sock yarn I still do it by hand for some unknown reason. :)
You will love it. Word of caution, every once in awhile check the secure-ness of the round doo-hickey at the top, it is held on by pressure and every once inwhile works itself off. The first time mine launched across the room like a rocket the swift collapsed, following the upward spiral, and after I got over my surprise, I had a muddle to sort out. Now I check it periodically.
I am officially envious!
I knew it the minute I saw the box! Kewl – that rocks :)
Heee!!!
I love my Gilmakra! Do be careful, I didn’t have mine secured well enough the first time I used it, and it fell off and one of the wood arms cracked. I patched it all up with a little blue painters tape(it was what was near by) though and haven’t had a problem since. Someday I’ll glue it back together.. I of course always check and make sure it’s secured now!!
Love the visual tease, B. Marie! Also diggin’ the sturdy wooden swift. A thing of beauty.
