The color of this yarn (Berroco *Ultra Alpaca* Lavendar Mix) almost takes my breath away. It is such a departure from the regulation color strip @Chez Chic

(BLACK, Dk. Brown, Taupe, Grey, Chartruese, Navy, Bijou Blue)

It is in a world of its own…

Planet Pleasure.

I think I might have to re-think my favorites and work this in!

Ariann #2 on the needles, is 2 shaping INCs away from being at the joining point. I’ve got the yarn all wound and am ready to roll out to the bus and hit it. It is going with me everywhere – has a hot date on the 10th of December.

Today, we look for buttons – can’t wait to see what Michelle has come up with – she’s making Ariann with this yarn too – spied it at our KIP. I can’t decide what would go best with this – brown? grey? not purple? black is too deep toned. What do you think wouldn’t detract from the song of the lilac?

  1. I have a lavendar sweater that has pearly shell buttons.
They have a bit of pink and a bit of warm grey – they look great. Keep it up, all your knitting is so thoughtful and well tailored – a good inspiration for me!

  2. Hee hee…so if I show up wearing my Ariann on December 10th, is that a faux pas?! :)

Buttons are getting sewn tonight. I agree that black buttons really wouldn’t work with this yarn, which is why I was sort of stuck for a little while…

  3. I think a gray, pewter or brushed nickel would be lovely! I love the shade of the lavender! I may need to get ahold of some of that yarn!!

  4. Mmmmmmm….what a yummy colour!
    ; )
Re: buttons? How about about that colour, but a couple of shades deeper?

  5. Green, green, definitely green. A kind of quiet, not-too-upfront green. Or, ok, maybe pearly gray. Or brushed pewter.
    It’s beautiful!

  6. My God, you’ve been busy Miss Bonnie Marie! Knit, knit, knit away! I vote gray. I’m sure there are grey buttons with perhaps a greenish cast to compliment the purple color.

  7. Well if it was a pair of socks, I’d say the chartreuse. ;) I love purple and chartreuse together.

But the grey is probably your safest bet. :) It’s a really nice purple!

  8. By the way…any word on the Ribbi-Pulli?
    Just wonderin’.
With the holiday knitting I’m doing it’s not like I have any time to knit anything for myself. ; )

  9. I was thinking some type of paua shell buttons that are luminescent and turn purply-pink or perhaps bone buttons? Hmm, I didn’t need to see that color for Ariann, just lovely.

  10. So far, the yarn is very nice for this design. I went up a needle size to #8 to get gauge.

The fabric it’s becoming is smooth and a little drapey. It’s twisted a little tighter than other alpaca yarns I’ve seen, which I like, which makes it behave. Sometimes, softer yarns, at a looser twist don’t wear very well. I’ve got high hopes for this.

Now, if I could only find some buttons :p

  11. When in doubt, MOTHER OF PEARL. Always my go-to button.

And I need to share that the contagion is spreading. Cotton Ariann, casting-on soon in a bus near you. Well not so near you. xoxo Kay

  12. Creamy buttons and a chocolate brown skirt or slacks mmm. Cup of espresso with a dash of Kahlua and a dollop of whipped cream, next to a bouquet of lavender. Happy holidays.

  13. I would go with something “bone” or “driftwood” in color… something a little light (but not bright!) to keep with the late spring/early summer feel of the lilac.
The mother-of-pearl suggestion would work well too.
Have fun with it, it’s looking beautiful so far!
