The 10-Day sweater hits the Runway! I started this on Saturday, the 25th of November and VOILA! Ariann arrives at the Arcadia Knitting trunk show December 10th…

This was a very exciting moment for me – I traveled up to the NorthSide with a battery of garments and more to meet and mingle with old friends and new!

The lovely Dana models the alpaca Ariann – you can see that this yarn makes a very smooth, drapey fabric – more relaxed looking than the original green sample.

Along with the Trunk Show, we had a little demo swag time – here is my good friend and muse, Edie, helping me demonstrate how to measure for fit. Here’s a break-down of what we did in an article you can save…

My huge THANKS!!! to all that were able to join us – and especially, to Rachel for taking all the great pictures!

And a huge round of applause to all who joined in the FUN and wore some Chic Knits to the party! Here’s Robin, looking gorgeous in a watermelon color CeCe that was most lovely!

Assorted garments from the Chic Knits Portfolio will be at Arcadia Knitting until December 31, 2006.
Please stop by and browse the sweaters and hats and see the new hard copy Chic Knits Patterns!

  1. i love that ariann! the drape is lovely… and the buttons look great too.
so envious of the chicago folks who got the in-person fit lesson… looks like it was a great event. congrats!!

  2. Happy Holidays Bonne!

The Alpaca Ariann is beautiful! Are my eyes deceiving me, or is it a little longer than your original, or is the drape of the yarn making it grow a bit with wear? I am currently on my second of four Ariann’s in the works, also in alpaca, and will adjust for drape if necessary. Congrats on the new pattern line for yarn shops! Will you eventually have a listing of where they are available in your sidebar?

  3. Great question, Tina! This Ariann is made in the next larger size than the original green sample – so it’s a little bigger and longer on the mannequin. It is knit and blocked to the specs in the pattern. This yarn is 50% wool & 50% alpaca – 100% alpaca might behave differently but alpaca does characteristically *grow* a little.

To be sure, measure often during the knitting process…

A list of available retail sources is in the works and will be in the *Patterns* section of the site.

  4. I love the Ariann in alpaca, and you look fetching in CeCe. Too bad Chicago is so far away, because it looks like you all had a lot of fun and I wish I was there.

  5. So sorry I missed it! I had an unavoidable (and less fun) obligation that I thought I could get out of but couldn’t. Boo, hiss. Sounds like it went swimmingly!

  6. I’m so so glad I made the trip down for this! It was great to see you and I’m so happy for you with the new venture. I’m even more inspired to make an Ariann…one of these days when the baby lets me! :)

  7. How fun! That is a great idea to showcase your patterns in person. I would love to see them all. Great job on the finished Ariann too. Love that color!

  8. GORGEOUS!!! Today I put the sleeves and body together and I’m rolling along. I CAN’T wait until this knit is finished. Thank you for a great pattern!

  9. Hi Bonne! I had such a great time on Sunday – and I learned how to make my knits fit, too! Thanks for the mention and pic. :)

  10. i wish i could have been there, but had family obligations. looks like everyone had a wonderful time. the Lavender Ariann is beautiful. i’ll have to visit the store soon to see your patterns in print! :)

    so happy for you.

  11. B-Marie, Did Arcadia give you our note? E and I traveled the 5 hour RT to come to your grand pattern party, only to discover that we hame on the WRONG day! D’uh and D’oh, and Arrrgggghhh. We shopped though, and then had a pastry at Leticia’s in the old hood, raising a tea toast to you.
