Alrighty now, flurries and chillies and snuggies all around!
There is no more denying it: winter is upon us.
And back on my lap (needles)? My Cassidy sweater out of wonderful woolie Camilla Farm Canadian 2-ply! I’d ditched this to the bottom of the knitting basket when it got too hot too handle this summer but now, it is perfection. I’m knitting on the Back (got around 4 inches done last night) and it is doing double duty as a WIP & a mini-lap blanket ;p
Here’s another view of the Back before I got busy:
That picture is from July (?) and you can see how different the color looks in daylight as opposed to the indoor light in my house. The Dark Photo Days of Winter now loom…
The pretty blue tweediness of this yarn and the quickie no-needle cables move this along at pretty much top speed. And I did something that I always do when picking up a project that’s been sitting around with no progress: I frogged back a couple of rows and re-attached *fresh* working yarn. This does away with tilted stitches that sometimes happen when a row of knitting has been on the needles for a long time without moving.
TGIF! Gotta run for the train!!!!
So so pretty! Happy Friday to you!
Hi! I’m working on Cassidy too. I am using Cascade 220 in a light blue heather that I bought several years ago. I knitted Seamus, then frogged it. Thought I had enough yarn, but when I finished the first sleeve, it was obvious that there wasn’t enough remaining yarn for a second sleeve, let alone button bands and a collar. (I am omitting the hood as I knew I wouldn’t have enough for that.) I have 90% decided to attempt set in top down sleeves, and make them short/capped. Haven’t totally decided what to do about the cables since I don’t want them to be upside-down. The regular cable will be fine, but not the 17st cable. I might just go for a cute puff… can’t decide yet. But I sure like the pattern, and I will definitely knit it up right with hood and everything, eventually. :-) Aside from my crazy mods, yours’ resembles mine, at least for now.
Oh, great tip about the stitches on the needles when picking up an UFO! I can always tell where the row was, later, but never thought to rip back because at that moment it’s not apparent. And I’m eternally optimistic.
Not that I have many UFOs — or as I like to call them, prestarted projects — no, no, not me! (skulks away)
Very pretty!
Could you please check the URL you’re using for your RSS feed? Every time you post, I get an RSS update with all the week’s previous posts…??? Thanks!
Oh! So pretty!! I’m thinking of your Mom; I hope she is doing well…
Gosh – what a gorgeous sweater! Thanks for the tip – I’ll remember that next time I pick up a project that’s been languishing … of course, I *always* finish each project promptly … cough * cough*!
it’s so pretty:)
How nice to see you using a sheepy 2-ply for Cassidy! I have a whackload of similar yarn but I’d had Cassidy in firmly in the ‘more drape less sheep’ category. Perhaps the B&L Regal is destined for a Cassidy after all…
