The very heart of me was in denial but pictures do not lie…

These bad boys are Fraternal Twins! One of them has more blue and white stripes than the other and what’s really weird is that I didn’t notice it until I took this picture (Reason #1 why I love to record my projects, although it can be PAINFUL!).

And am I whacked over it? NAY! If I ever am wearing them with a skirt (it COULD happen) and find someone staring at my ankles, I’ll have to give them that Global Warning you give someone you catch staring at your boobalas, or something. Or NOT…

And in the meantime, my feetsies will be really enjoying themselves. These are boot socks and feel wonderful!

one down, four to go?

  1. I love those. I like fraternal twins better than identical. (Okay, my husband is a fraternal twin.)

  2. I think that not matching exactly is one of the charms of hand knit socks. I don’t mind when the colors pool, either. I think that’s what comes with using a hand painted yarn.

  3. Not to worry, Bonne Marie! Take a cue from Lucy Neatby (author of “Cool Socks, Warm Feet”). She wears a different sock on each foot — *and* a different sandal! :-)

  4. They are only partially fraternal since the tops match exactly. Go figure! They are lovely. L

  5. Not surprising that your tension level changed a little after the win, n’est-ce pas?

I apologize for all the words that came out of my mouth when I saw you’d finished a pair of socks in the number of days it took me to turn a heel and knit an inch of instep. You’re probably not any of those things I called you…

  6. Ahhh – my friend, Delf! The first sock was about 1/2 done when I picked it back up a couple of weeks ago…

So really, it was about 2 weeks for the second :)

  7. I knit a pair of fraternal socks as well! Socks only a knitter could love. They look great – go Sox!

  8. I didn’t even notice the fraternal-ness until you mentioned it. And it will be even less noticeable when you’re wearing them. I think they’re great! Wear ’em with pride! :)

  9. The differences will not be obvious after you put the socks on. I promise.

I had a bit of a problem in this regard with some Lorna’s Laces sock yarn and I tamed it by knitting the tops with one skein and the feet with the other skein.

  10. Those socks are wild and mod! Wear ’em proudly. (The photo is to die for; I love how the colors in your shots are always so clear and sharp. They just POP out at ya!)
