  1. Bonne Marie, is there a way to turn some of those knits into purls and create ribbing without undoing all of the knitting? Kind of purposely dropping stitches and picking them back up… Just a thought.

  2. Too Late my fine friend! It’s already OFF with Its Thread! The little dog in the picture is wearing the sock… :)

The sock was about 3/4″ too big no matter what…

  3. Rip out or gift them are your only choices. Since you’ve already ripped, I’d suggest toe-up socks. That way you can try them on as you go and perfect the fit. Or just knit them in the same pattern as your faves.

    Good luck!

  4. Ham & Peanuts! Sounds like a dish just about to make the Church Potluck Supper Circuit!

OR made me think of: my co-worker who gets a pack of peanuts from the vending machine and pours it into his cup-o-pepsi – hmmmm – sip’n’chew…

More dangerous musings: the year I had to go to Summer School in college and sat in the first row to avoid sleeping in the heat and was MESMERIZED (almost thoroughly energized?) by the very puffy FEET of my Very Pregnant Professor. They were the only thing that kept me awake and would most certainly fit that big sock.

    If it still existed…

  5. Where they my socks, and too big, I’d probably buy colored elastic thread from the fabric store and weave it in and out of the fabric every inch or so. It would end up looking like horizontal ribbing. Alternatively, can you shrink the crap out of it? I’m so anti-frog on projects I’ve spent a lot of time on that I get kind of creative when they don’t turn out right.

If you added knitted applique cables/flowers/etc to the tops of the fabric could you gather the fabric just enough to bring in the sock without making it bunch in your shoe? Like flowers on stems (my monitor says the socks are greenish) or bees with dotted line trails?
