Stepping into the commute gap, we have the new Mobile Project: the Ribby Pullover. My other projects are in the finishing stages (buttonbands, seaming, etc) and are just too fussy to stuff in ye olde bag.
This is not unlike the sock I have stuck in my pocket at all times for quick stealth knitting. It just goes round and round; you can stop at any point and quickly put it down. That was a problem with the other project(s) I’ve been hauling around lately – I would have to stop in the middle of a ROW and would drop stitches (or even in one dizzy instance, turn and knit the row in the wrong direction so I had an extra half row glitch happening for awhile. SCARY!)
This goes fast and is user friendly, so it can be RELAXING to do on the commute instead of a Rolling Wrestling Match…
I’m also diggin’ the way the handpaint is revealing itself. It made climbing diagonal stripes during the bottom portion and now has reversed and made arrows in the opposite direction. I’ve just changed skeins so I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I am so glad to know I am not the only one that has had to stop knitting in the middle of the row, picked up the knitting later and gone about it in the wrong direction. UGH! Leaves me swearing nonstop and with a headache.

My family is “well-trained” now. They know to wait for me to finish a row, before we leave the house.
My husband used to be afraid to talk to me while I was knitting, because he thought he was interrupting my counting. Now he can tell if I’m just doing stockinette or garter, so he knows it’s okay.

Oooohh….I so excited!! I was just thinking last night about doing a “Winter Olympic Sweater” project all by myself. I was swatching last night for the Yin and Yang pullover from Simply Knit 2 (so glad to know that it’s considered “training”). I may cheat, though and cast on during opening ceremonies–I can’t wait until the flame is lit!
You have a wonderful way of changing your patterns enough to create a whole new look. I Ribby Pullover is a super idea!!

I know what you mean about on the go knitting. I have done all you mentioned and more while knitting something that wasn’t so ‘travel friendly’. Now it is a sock for travel-always. The pullover is fantastic! The way it is knitting up is so…oh, I just don’t have the words for it-but I know I am diggin’ it!
