A little wine, a little ambience, some fashionable friends!

I brought this naughty top with me to the Museum of Contemporary Art S’nB last night. It is just a short walk from work to the MCA – they’ve been staying open late on free Tuesdays so some Downtown Knitters can get together in Puck’s (as in Wolfgang) Cafe on the east side of the building. This project is sort of like a big SOCK in that you just go round and round – so it makes for the Perfect Chat Project.

(I’ve learned the hard way that things like Lace and Fussy Cabling do not mingle well with the mingling…)

And before I knew it , the sippin and clickn with the happy gang – including Jen and Theresa and KarenB – made the knittin’ fly by. In the middle of all that, a TV crew showed up and taped a segment for some show – My HANDS my HANDS! They were models for a little bit. And because we were downtown girls there was WINE! I toasted the camera guy when he asked me why I wasn’t shooting – he’s my fellow news hound outside – was he EVER surprised to see me clickn away. It made me go really fast. The drinkin shot will most likely be the one that makes it into their piece, I can just feel it…

So all that was left to do when I got home was the Neckband. And is it just me or does it look like that neckline is smiling?

I can’t believe how the variegation made these little smiley curves around the scoop. Est il faux pour l’adorer? I had to find the ONLY lit place in the hut and take a pre-blocked picture just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things…

  8. My knitting has the same problem with mingling. Easy does it. I love the smile! The top is fabulous and would work up quickly…it will be fun to see your modifications, too.

  10. I love your scoopy top. But I can’t decide what the true color is. Today’s picture looks yellowy & brown. Yesterday’s picture looks aqua-bluey & brown. Which one is true?

    I’m only a little bit sad that when and if you offer the pattern, I won’t be able to get that exact same yarn and have those exact same swoops!!

    I love reading your block, and usually check in daily. Thanks for sharing your knitting adventures with us!

    I know most comments on knitting blogs are gushing, so I apologize in advance if my comments seem overly critical, but I believe in being frank. I really liked the sweater better in the last shot, before you considered it finished. The sleeves now look a little too long and dowdy, the scoop too “safe” (especially since you said you’re planning on wearing this over a shirt). The band around the neckline seems too wide. The whole thing seems to have lost the sexiness and spunk it projected in the last shot. Just one person’s opinion, of course.

  24. Sounds like you had a fun time as you were finishing up the sweater. I’m currently on a project right by the MCA – maybe I’ll come to SnB in April or May.

    *Moe* – you crack me up! The sleeves in this picture are actually 1.5 inches shorter than in the last shot! I ripped the yoke out and re-did them after that post. And a little yokin’ was in order because if I left it like it was before, my boobals would not have been covered At All :)

  26. Il n’est pas faux de l’adorer parceque je l’adore ausis! (I think I spelled that correctly. Anyway, it’s the limit of what’s left of my HS French!)
    PLEASE tell me that you’re going to make this pattern available! I already have the yarn in my stash! It’s in color 70 – Vera – and I’m really hoping that my 7 skeins will be enough. If not, I’ll just have to get more because I LOVE this pullover! I’m already trying to decide which yarn to use on my Ribby Cardi and am starting to think that I may need more than one. Maybe I’ll do a spring/summer version in Cascade Sierra! The possiblilities are endless!!!

  27. Oh, chica, it is sooo perfect! It has sky blue and chocolate Miami written all over it… perfect for showing the maximum skin but covering the tatas and upper arms not quite in photo-journalist shape. ahem. bless you for avoiding the dread (but cute) cap sleeve. pattern, pretty please with chocolate on top???
