self-portrait Tuesday
The Knit-Geek Questionnaire
…via Laura via Kate1. What’s your worst habit relating to your knitting? What? Only one? I would have to say STARTITIS! I get a bee-in-my-bonne-ette and sooner rather than later there’s more projects stinkin’ up the joint than mixed metaphors in the average Chic Knits blog entry.
2. In what specific ways does your knitting make you a better person? Well. Yer average mixed-up shook-up citizen living in the Urban Miasma with other grumpy folk can easily be soothed and reformatted towards productive not destructive horseplay via the addition of sticks and string. (Note smile on knitter’s face in above picture and pout on seatmate’s.)
3. How might you or your life be different if you were suddenly unable to knit? Apparently, according to the latest media polls, a yoga booty call would have to take place every 20 minutes or so to manage the strain knitting erases. Are you lookin’ at me?
4. If money were no object, what one yarn, and what one tool or gadget would you run out and buy first? Italy. Whawt?! You just said money was no object. OK. Be that way. Polwarth & Silk it is. TOOL: no doubt, a very flash Scale.
5. What knitting technique or project type are you most afraid of (if any)? What, specifically, do you fear will happen when you try it? Aye matey, no technique is safe from the needles of b-Marie! BUT, history will bear out the fact that I avoided Intarsia like the plague (many
scarsvaccinations later). If there were no *day job* I would probably be caught in the lovely net of Extreme Lace Knitting. I’ve become smitten with the work of Galina Alexandrovna Khmeleva, whose specialty is Orenberg lace as is the delightful Mary-Ann Parisi who modeled her latest (although non-Orenberg) shawl at the last WCKG meeting.…to be continued
Many thanks to Leonda who snapped the above pic on the moving #66. It sort of qualifies as a *self-portrait* because of the milions of Photoshop moves I squeezed on it.

Knitting does soothe the soul, does it not?
I took an intarsia class at the last Stitches West, and still avoid the technique like the plague. :-)
what about your fear of gloves? are you keeping that one on the down-low? ;)
ha ha ha ha. and i have to say, i did not expect you, bonne marie, to be spreading the “knitting is the new yoga” ballyhoo!!!
Great interview! (I needed some Tuesday morning mirth today!) I can’t wait to read the rest. When you announce a mobile KIP, you mean really mobile, hmm?
“bonne-ette” – LOL! You’re too funny :-)
Heee! You look so cute and happy!
Ah, the Polwarth & Silk is well worth the journey into debtors prison.
love the pic on the #66, you look so happy and your seatmate looks as if she just sat on a tack.
Hahahaha! I had so much fun reading this. You’re a riot :-)
Galina lives in Colorado and is an absolute delight. I took her warm shawl class two years ago; impressed her because I speak a bit of Russian, but my knitting? Let’s just say I was not the brightest light in the candelabra of that class! Thrilled you like her, too.
i love that picture!! your neighbor does look like she could use some knitting, doesn’t she?
and i hear ya with the startitis. at last count i had 14 projects going simultaneously. (blush)
OOOOOO, Bonne Marie – That woman sitting next to you is looking as if, given she were a character from Harry Potter, she’d whip out her wand in a second and give YOU the Av******K****** curse. Jeeze – what was HER issue?
But, on the other hand, perhaps the Force of Positive Knitting Magic was protecting her from doing the dastardly deed.
I always say to new knitters, “Here’s my advice on intarsia. Don’t do it.”
It’s a super cute picture! “Italy” – LMAO.
Excellent picture! You’re clearly in your element, mixing it up with sticks and string in the urban limo.
It’s easy to get caught up in the lace knitting, so addictive. I think you should fall head-first! (teehee!) I say this only because I’ve fallen head over heels, so should everyone else, right? ;-)
Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! It’s just not fair, B-Marie, that you keep looking younger and younger! And I’m with you on the intarsia thing…
