If you live in the Midwest, I don’t have to tell you that it’s been raining here for days and days and days. The grey skies are a color sponge that remove the vitality of everyday objects and leave them subdued and low.
The Outside Life is now become the Inside Life; autumn is officially upon us, early and strong.
After I get over the grey, I realize how much I love this time of year. This is the time when the projects begin in earnest. This is the time new things are learned and wallowed in.
I’ve been wandering around the Photoshop landscape a lot lately. It is so amusing to see what it can do:

The actual yarn I’m using is Calmer in *Coffeebean*.
the Fabulous Fluffa is also knitting this baby in the same yarn and she writes: “I think that Rowan should rename this color of Calmer “chocolate truffle” instead of “coffee bean”. YUM!
Believe me when I say, this woman knows her Chocolat! She introduced me to the glories of dark chocolate in Paris – I did not realize that you could get Chocolat Bars in percentages of Cocoa (more being better!) We started me out at about 40% and by the end of the week I was, hmm, at 72%? This color makes you want to D.I.V.E. right in!

Beautiful fall color! And the sun is finally out in Chicago; yay! That color would be perfect for the Chocolate Swap I just joined, but I would have a hard time parting with it. Fabu.
Mais oui, chocolat! That was one of the best things I brought back with me from Amsterdam. One was 87% cocoa with bits of orange peel. Delish!
I started a sweater in that color of calmer too! But it hasn’t gotten anywhere yet. As you well no, gray is a photographers favorite color. ;-) Although I could do without the rain and the almost BLACK skies. We’re getting your weather today it seems.
I’m having a blast knitting this pattern. Your construction of it is genius, simply GENIUS.
P.S. Remember our snacks of chocolate bars and baguette? YUM. And the more dark chocolate the better. I mean, we all need the magnesium, right???

ah, my grocery store even has chocolate now by the %. But the Belgian chocolate one picks up in Paris; c’est Magnifique
CeCe is looking marvelous drenched in it.
Oh, yeah, dark chocolate and red wine, I’m in heaven! Locally, I find Scharfenberger’s dark chocolat at 72% I think. You know Prevention Magazine touts that it keeps your arteries healthy as does red wine. That’s good enough for me.
My co-worker and I do choclate samplings. We get various “proofs” and sample them all to determine what percentages we enjoy best. The highest percentage we’ve seen was 90%. It was like tar. My favourite is about 60%.
If I have a candy bar, I’ll eat it in one sitting. If I have dark chocolate, a few squares are all I need.
I love that color…fabulous! And the sleeve length is perfect. Is it indcluded in the pattern – I suck at changes/additions/modifications.
Chocolate-a beautiful thing. You’re all about the CeCe, aren’t you? I love that pattern,but my first shot at it didn’t turn out so great, although I blame the yarn. I plan on trying it again next spring, because I really love the top. Plus, right now I have so much lace going, my eyes are going crazy.

Brown can look so beautiful but is hard for some of us to wear… but now that you call it “chocolate” I may have to give it another shot.
Please try Scharffen Berger 70%, if you haven’t already. YUM
Look for Dagoba chocolates online or at your local purveyor of fine foods. They have several high-cocoa bars and some really interesting flavors as well. I like the one they call Xocolatl. I’m enough of a purist that I wouldn’t normally admit to eating flavored chocolates, but theirs are intruiguing.
Note that there’s an effective upper bound on percentage of cocoa solids: baking chocolate has so much cocoa, there’s no room for sugar. Not even avowed chocoholics like me can take much of that.
mmm… dark chocolate. i used to be a milk-only person until i discovered the wonders of good dark chocolate. fabulous in taste and color!
have you tried vosges haut chocolat? delicious unusual flavors and right in your hometown!
One thing I especially like about brow…woops…chocolate, is that unlike black, I think just about everyone can find a shade that makes them look fabulous. Some people are good with browns that have a little grey in them; others of us (ahem, like me), need a little bit of red or orange or gold in it. I’m going to have to put a brown knitted something on the list.
