Monday Morning Mirth
It seems Emmy and Oscar are dating, in Hollywood, this year…
TV/Movies, Movies on TV, Made-for-TV Movies, heh, HBO…
Everybody is everything!
Which, from my POV, makes for more interesting (and yes, potentially, tragic) gown-watching at this year’s Emmy awards.
Now, more than ever, big-screen luminaries light up the small screen and boy-oh-boy: scorch the Red Carpet.
From l. to r.
WIN! Kate Winslet not only took home the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama (for Mildred Pierce), but showed up in a stunning red gown by Elie Saab. Thanks Kate, for your performance and knowing it’s globally awkward looking at throat-to-navel cleavage. Just right!
LOSE! La Paltrow in what could’ve been a sophisticated turn instead served up a lil-ole peep show. Wearing a gown by Emilio Pucci, Le Midriff Gwynn, in spite of toning and whatever they do out there on the left coast that we don’t in the Windy, seemed to have a bubbly little life of its own (even when she was standing still). It was reassuring to me, though, that my muffin gonna be there even if I don’t eat the cheeseburger…
WIN or LOSE?! I just had to throw my favorite director and one of my favortie actors in here for grins. But, sheesh, it really does make you realize they basically just have to shower and show up!
WIN! More BWEmpire with Kelly McDonald in an intriguing (but nameles?) gown with lovely paneling and lace, showing that the flip-side of strapless can be lovely indeed.
BONUS WIN! NO one-sleeved dresses spotted anywhere!
I’m with you. BWE is a big win all around. I’ve loved Steve Buscemi since Fargo.
