I don’t know how, but “dude” found its way in there! sheesh.
My company went Agile this year (it’s a method of software development) so now suddenly everything is agile.
And I’ve been using dude for years.. It crept in about 5 years ago, and just never died.
“Sweet”. I’m going to shoot myself with a BB gun every time I say “sweet” so I can make it stop. “Dude” is in there to stay. You can’t live in L.A. as long as I did and wipe that one out of your speech.
dude is in my vocabulary to stay too… and i’ve infected almost everyone i know! i was informed by a dismayed spouse that i inadvertently called my mother-in-law “dude.” she was startled. :)
Yep, Dude really crept into my language the past couple of years and I can’t seem to get rid of it. Thanks for the links. I wanted to see the Top 10 list of banned words, but never got around to searching for it.
I will admit to using dude (seriously, dude, I will) but I’m from CA and it’s been in there all along, and in there it will stay. Dude.
My latest least fave is “how _ is that?” As in, how yummy is that, how funny is that, etc. I have no idea where I picked it up.
There are other phrases I’ve purposely added to my vocab, like ending a sentence with “I tell you what,” ala Hank Hill. It just made me giggle when I heard it so I forced it into my language.
Looking at your list, I’ve decided to add “time p0rn” in, because it describes something so perfectly that has been driving me crazy.

I only use “dude” for effect.
Never used “truthiness” or any of the other Words o’ the Year. I know what they mean and where they come from, but I’ve yet to use them in everyday speech.
I have put “hella-” in front of words, though.
“Hella-cold”, “hella-cool”, etc.
And I’ve started using “frack” instead of its 4-lettered original. (I love BSG.)
